This is the original band that Maynard was part of. In this five piece band, Maynard played bass, and very well at that. It's a straight forward kind of band, punky in nature, but still with a sound way ahead of their time (1986). I was very drawn in by the sound of the music, but I have to say the singing left something to be desired (too bad Maynard didn't sing in this band). Overall it's really enjoyable to listen to and you can hear Tool-like bass lines (makes me wonder if Maynard had something to do with Tool's bass lines), but please don't expect Tool.

This is Maynard's first and only solo effort. He played bass, Korg drums, vocals, recorded, edited, produced, wrote, and did the cover art for the project (Kevin Horning , also of Texans, played guitar). This is really not what I expected, and it took me a couple of listens to appreciate this piece of work. The only way I can explain it is Orgy/Depeche Mode/"Ambient Noise." All the tunes have lyrics but some are very hidden in the background, and the others are straight up tunes, with structure. Once again, if your looking to hear Tool, this isn't the place, but I was incredibly excited just to hear his influences. THIS IS A MUST FOR MAYNARD FANS.

For anyone who doesn't know, this is Justin Chancellor's first band before Tool. Right now Tool have been covering "You Lied" and just recently "Spasm." This album is actually very good. Dark, comedic, and well written. This album is very Tool inspired, Justin has not changed his playing style since this album. It was rather hard to find and very sought after by me, but once I got it, I was even happier to hear that it was good.
