The Marauder Bomber |

The DWJ Marauder bomber came about early into the incorporation of the DWJ organization. It's purpose is mass transport of DWJ heroes and / or Equipment. On occasion it has been used for rescue operations and relief missions. When the DWJ captured an escape pod from a starship of the Kama Sutra, they dissected it's engines and core and then modified them to a useful engine to make a very fast mode of transportation from. At the time, there was no plans for a plane set for the DWJ, but as criminal activity increased, a need to deliver the heroes on the scene quickly was made a priority. Snake Eyes used his influence in his previous organization of the US Military to salvage the body and parts from an aviation graveyard from California and have it transported to Switzerland. The Marauder bomber was a very reliable aircraft during WWII, coupled with it's ruggedness and stability made the plane a wise choice. Work was set on the project immediately. The United Nations was notified and resources were set to find a pilot for the aircraft. A month later, France delivered to the DWJ a woman by the name of Monique Lafayette, a French test pilot of new and experimental aircraft. If there was anyone who could fly this old plane with the new engines, she could. She began to test the plane when it became operational and been with the DWJ since. The DWJ Marauder Bomber houses two Kama Sutrian thruster engines which propel the aircraft practically at any speed. For world wide transport of the DWJ Superheroes, it usually travels at a speed of 50,000 Mi/hour, enabling it to reach any point in the world in one hour. The engines are capable of light speed, but so far, have never been tested at that speed for there is no computer or pilot capable of navigating the craft in space at this speed. Also there is a set amount of "solid" fuel for the thrusters. At it's current sub-light speed, it is capable of traveling for centuries, but only for a short amount of time in light speed. At 50,000 mi/hour, the DWJ learned very early (almost with disaster), that sudden movements the plane made caused almost crippling G-forces to exist, this caused at best, blackouts that almost crashed the plane on one occasion. To compensate for this, the nin scientists at the DWJ science centre created an inertial damper system on the plane. This device enables the plane to accelerate and perform maneuvers and turns, even at 50,000 mi/hour with no effects from G-Forces. The bottom side of the Marauder Bomber has been reinforced with the hull plating of the original Kama Sutrian escape pod, which is some type of polydeterium metal which is lightweight, but impervious to modern ballistics and explosives. The underside up to the wing joints of the aircraft, and the underside of the wings, and the engine housing have been reinforced with this metal, the arch Ellis heel of the aircraft is the topside, which is still original housing of the original Marauder Bomber, though reinforced with modern armor. The wings of the aircraft can rotate 90 degrees upwards to provide VTOL landings and takeoff, this has been built into the design since day one as it was foreseen that the DWJ Superheroes would have to be deployed in areas which did not have a runway. This has been advantageous as the DWJ have been picked up and dropped off in cities, jungles, and the ocean. The bomb bay doors on the belly of the aircraft are still functional and usually provide the doorway in which the DWJ are deployed. The area here now sport a winch system and a cage for multiple person evacuation or insertion. The winch and cage have a strong wire cable system which can extend to the total distance of 3000 feet. Other equipment on board is a full surveillance monitoring system, computers, first aid / medical facility, Radar & Sonar, and 12 high powered halogen spotlights. The picture above is not accurate, as it was a before picture. The DWJ Marauder Bomber is now a dark Royal Navy Blue color, with Silver DWJ Insignia on the wings. The call letters from the original WWII Marauder Bomber still exist on the plane, redone in Silver to match the motif. The latest improvement to the appearance of the plane was the original nose art to commemorate the WWII status and history of the Aircraft. The "Allied Angel" is the true name of the DWJ Marauder Bomber as was found out recently when by a freak occurrence, the DWJ and their plane were whisked back in time to 1941 and they met the original crew of the Bomber, as well as their plane as it looked back then.
