Comments:

Three of the key members of the legendary West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band were the musically very talented Michal Lloyd, Shaun Harris and Danny Harris. A large part of what the three recorded both before, during and after the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band period from 1966-1970 is collected on this CD. On several of these obscure, but in many cases great recordings, all three participate, on others only some of them.

A fourth key member of WCPAEB was the controversial Bob Markley, who had little to offer musically but who possessed the edge and originality that made the group very special. He was much older than the rest of the group, and the first eight tracks on this CD are things he recorded under different names in 1960. These tracks have little in common with what the WCPAEB would later record, but in several cases have fun elements.

The really good stuff, however, are those with contributions from Michal Lloyd and the Harris brothers, who already started playing together as teenagers under names like The Rogues and The Laughing Wind. Later they used names like Rockit, California Spectrum, Brigadune and Boystown. The best of this measures up well with the best WCPAEB material and is in many cases clearly related to it.

For WCPAEB fans this CD is a must and tracks like "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Good to be Around", "John Works Hard", "The Bells", "End of the Line", "Amblin", "I 'll Cry From my Grave”, “Misty Morning” and “My Wife Likes to” are in different ways big or minor gems.
