Pulp
His 'n' Hers - Island 1994 Comments:"His 'n' Hers" from 1994 is an album that I first got to know several years after its release. Hit songs like "Common People", "Disco 2000" and a general great interest in Brit-pop in the mid-1990s, made me aware of the group, and I bought the two fine albums "Different Class" and "This is Hardcore ”. After that the interest cooled and only much later did I feel like digging into what the group had released before the two mentioned albums.
In Jarvis Cocker, the group has a fantastic frontman and singer, who writes lyrics with both bite and subtlety. Melodic, which most of the music is, the whole band is behind, as all members are credited as composers.
The singles on "His 'n' Hers" are the two up-beat tracks, "Do You Remember the First Time?" and “Babies”. Both are very fine and catchy.
In addition to the singles, I would like to highlight the melodic opener "Joyriders", the light and catchy "Lipgloss", the light and almost floating "Acrylic Afternoon" and the more subdued "Happy Endings".
Towards the end come a few less catchy tracks, but overall a very fine album that naturally has a lot in common with two sequels "Different Class" and "This is Hardcore".
