Miss B. Haven
Mislyde - Kick Music 2000 Comments:"Mislyde" from 2000 is a 2 CD compilation; with one CD (Reprises) consisting of selected tracks from the group's four Danish-language albums, while CD 2 is a mixed bag of B-sides, demos and other rarities (Surprises).
The group existed from 1985-1997 and in this period they released four excellent Danish-language albums and four equally excellent albums in English.
The eponymous debut album is represented by five numbers, while the subsequent, "On Honeymoon", "Between Hearts and Spar" and "Suk & Stads" each contribute four numbers. It can be difficult to emphasize individual songs, as most are really strong; But songs like "Sov Sov Sov”,"Suzanne", "Til sommer", "Jeg bor i november November" and "Kandis Karruseller" are not to be missed.
CD 2 is of course a more mixed experience. A couple of fine B-sides are "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" and "Late in the Summer". "Love is All" comes from a tribute album for songwriter Lars Muhl.
There are a few selected songs from their English-language albums "Nobody's Angel" and "Miss B. Haven" (92).
Some demos were recorded in 1992-93 and have probably been the subject of a never finished album. This applies to "Mowgli", "Without Honey", "Jericho Rose", "How Many Wonders", "About a Girl", "Sounds of Silence", "For the Night" and "Why". Strongest among these I find the quiet "For the Night" and their interpretation of Paul Simon's "Sounds of Silence".
All in all, a very worthy last move from this unfortunately overly overlooked group that had the potential to reach far beyond what they succeeded.
Songwriter Lise Cabble later has become a prominent songwriter for the Eurovison Song Contest, with several Danish winners. For example, "Fra Mols til Skagen" (1995) and "Love is Forever" (2019)
