This fourth album from Sharon van Etten is generally a rather dark album, with relatively few immediately catchy tracks. The two singles "Comeback Kid" and "Seventeen" were my first favourites; and indeed they still are. However, I have also come to like the melodious "Malibu".
Sharon van Etten is an exciting artist with strong vocals, and her music often makes demands on the listener. It can hardly be called pop music; rather a form of avant-garde, based on several different musical genres.
