Comments:

I always tend to associate Richard Thompson with Folk-rock and his past with Fairport Convention. There is, of course, solid inspiration from British traditional music in his songwriting and instrumentation; but folk-rock this album can hardly be called. In addition to being an excellent guitarist with a very personal and easily recognizable style, Thompson is a talented songwriter, with a great sense of melody and intelligent lyrics.

The two singles "Read About Love" and "I Feel So Good" are both melodic upbeat and quite catchy. "You Dream Too Much" is a bit in the same category and the song could probably also have been a good bid for a single. My favorites, though, are the acoustic "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" and the very melodic and folkish "Keep Your Distance" - a very moving song - No connection to "Covid-19" As always from Thompson a great album, which will win by closer acquaintance and where new details may appear for each listening
