Comments:
Jethro Tull's very first album from 1968 is here available in a beautiful deluxe edition with both the mono and stereo versions of the original album. In addition, concurrent rare single tracks are included, of which at least the two have been extremely difficult to find. Also very nice BBC live shows from July and November 1968, respectively, are to be found.
This first incarnation of Jethro Tull included guitarist Mick Abrahams, who was heavily influenced by the blues. This is very obvious on this album, where most songs are based on classical blues; often similar to John Mayall's Bluesbreakers’ approach. However, Ian Anderson's whistle and vocals make the group stand out from many other contemporary groups within the genre. A few numbers also refer to the following classic album "Stand Up". This applies, to songs like "A Song for Jeffrey", "My Sunday Feeling" and the fine single "Love Story" b/w "A Christmas Song".
