Moody Blues
On the Threshold of a Dream - Threshold 1969 Comments:"On the Threshold of a Dream" was the fourth album from Moody Blues and one of the group's commercialy most successful. In fact, it was their first British number one album.
The theme "dream" goes through the album, which, like the predecessors, could be labelled ” a concept” album. Musically, it's a typical early Moody Blues album, related to both the predecessor "In Search of the Lost Chord" and the subsequent albums, released during the 1970s.
Like most often, all members of the group contribute to the song writing, which gives a fairly large variation in the melodic approach, still without ruining the overall overall mood and impression.
Normally Justin Hayward is my favorite composer, and his modest only two contributions "Lovely to See You Again" and the beautiful ballad "Never Comes the Day" are some of the strongest tracks on the album.
Mike Pinder's "Have You Heard" suite is another highlight of the album on which some songs have not aged that well and which may appaear somewhat tame.
