Eva Cassidy
Time After Time - Blix Street G2 10073 - 2000 Comments:"Time After Time" from 2000 was the second release with Eva Cassidy studio recordings. Actually, four of the songs were recorded live, but since the audience and Cassidy’s introductions are left out, the songs come out as studio work .
The songs are compiled very tastefully and there is an overall acoustic, folkish mood to the album. On a 3-4 songs the bluesy side of Cassidy is expressed, but otherwise the album is characterized by beautiful and quiet ballads; and of course by Cassidy's beautiful voice and fine guitar playing.
The album contains many of her greatest recordings and I would particularly highlight the beautiful folk songs "Penny to My Name" and "I Wandered by a Brookside". Cassidy's version of Cindy Lauper's "Time after Time" is also very beautiful. There are also successful versions of the more well-known songs such as Paul Simon's "Kathy 's Song" and Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" .In the more electric end Steven Digman's great "Easy Street Dream" is a highlight.
All in all, perhaps the most consistent Cassidy album.
