Trees
Trees - Trees 4CD's Boxset Comments:Contains Pretty Much Everything the Group Released.
This boxset from 2020 contains basically everything that the folk-rock group Trees managed to record. In addition to the two very fine complete albums "The Garden of Jane Delawney" from 1970 and the sequel "On the Shore" from 1971, there are new mixes and demos of both well-known tracks from the group, but also tracks that it has not previously been possible to hear .
CDs 3 and 4 collect these rarities.
On CD 3 there is a good handful of 2007 remixes of tracks from the 1971 album, as well as a couple fine demos of "Streets of Derry" and "Polly on the Shore"; both traditionals, where space is given to the group's guitarists.
CD 4 has BBC recordings of tracks from both albums; the most interesting are probably "Forest Fire" from 1970 and the demo "Little Black Cloud" from 1969, with piano and Celia Humphris' vocals. A short version of the previously unreleased "Black Widow" from 2007 is also included along with a short instrumental called "Little Cloud Suite".
There are nice notes to read in the booklet, which may be missing a little in relation to the reader being able to quickly form an overview. Regardless of this minor objection, an overall very fine release.
