Mandy Comments:Already on The Easybeat's second album from 1966, you will notice that this is a band with talent beyond the ordinary. The songwriting, which is still primarily handled by George Young and Stevie Wright jointly, has been raised significantly in level compared to the debut; and instrumentally there is greater variation and certainty.
The singles on the album "Women" and "Wedding Ring" were big hits in Australia; both are pretty raw r & b tracks, written by Wright / Young. The pair also wrote a third single together, "Come and See Her", which became the group's first single in the UK, and which points a lot in the direction of what the group would later release. A fourth single was the fine "Sad, Lonely and Blue"; which strangely enough disappointed on the charts.
Other strong album tracks include "You are the Light", "Someway, Somewhere", "What About Our Love" (A Fleet song) and the album's only Vanda / Young composition, the great "The I'll Tell You Goodbye" - all songs fine, melodic and well composed.
Among the bonus tracks you will find i.a. four tracks from the EP "Easyfever", which contained strong tracks such as "A Very Special Man" and the whimsical "Too Much" written by Vanda / Wright / Young.
Songs like "Friday on My Mind", "Made My Bed", "Happy is the Man", "All Gone Boy" and "Mandy" come from some later sessions and would logically be better suited as bonus songs on the "Good Friday" The album; especially the first three are really great.
