Comments:

"War" from 1983 was U2's third album, and it was the album that is remembered for "Sunday, Bloody Sunday", which has entered history in several ways. In addition to being one of "War’s" most catchy songs, the lyrics describe the conflict in Northern Ireland and the tragic events that happened on January 30, 1972. In addition to the melodic qualities in song it is also remarkable for its militaristic drumbeat and the Edge's harsh guitar. The song was released on single in the Netherlands, where it became a big hit. However, it was not released in either the US or the UK. This was in turn "New Years Day", another of the great songs of the album, and the song became the group's biggest hit to date. The dance-like "Two Hearts Beat as One" was also successfully released as a single.

Some of the album's tracks may be hard to remember from each other and although they are performed with both engagement and edge, the songwriting is somewhat less interesting.
