DEATH OF A TREE
glistening in the morning sun. Stark naked, devoid of soft green branches, gone long ago. Now all that is left are the memories. the wilderness. Struggling to survive the elements of nature. Wind, rain and freezing snow. winds blew, and the freezing rain came and beat hard upon the tiny tender branches. softly to the brown earth. The ground soon turns white glistening in the sun.
The tiny tree is buried deep within its depths. And the dark cold winter becomes a reality. all odds the tiny tree survived. During the spring and summer it stretched and grew. So it would become a strong tall grand tree that reached its branches to the sky. days when my many branches were lush and green. Home to all kinds of birds. The birds would come and build their nests. I would take care of their young. Protecting them from the summer winds and rains. race up and down my trunk. I was happy in the silence of the wilderness. I grew and and grew and grew. God reached down, put His hand on my very top branches, and said "job well done." "You have become a fine, beautiful tree." forest. Chopping down the trees, bringing with him roads and cars,with that gray smelly stuff. It surrounded me and blocked out the warm sun. It stuck to my soft green needles. of my branches. They bid their farewell and flow off to find a home far away from the noise of the road. and less. Leaving me to face my struggles with man alone standing by the side of the road. softness. Soon the green turned to brown. And one by one they dropped to the ground. reaching deep within the ground. I am withering, dying and one day I will not with stand the winter winds. And I will topple to the ground below. Without any protection from the cold winter snow. Left with only the memory of the singing birds. And God's little creatures running about. With only the memory of the beauty I once shared with the world by the side of the road.
