My Daughter

My daughter is my light
she brings a smile to my day
if i am low and feeling blue
she has a way to make things do

she is my little chatterbox
a steady flow of talk
about her day and friends galore
of dreams yet to come

My heart aches to know she will go
out into this hard world alone
but I'll be there I pray
to help each passing day

to guide her on her way
to laugh and cry with her
to make her days bright and gay
