A Growing Obsession

By the time I had returned from my third trip to Area 51 my interest in Dreamland was quickly growing to unhealthy proportions. Scattered about my home were various maps, photos, books, articles, and information I had printed up from the net. Not to mention a growing number of useless trinkets and souveineers that I had picked up in Rachel and Alamo. Among these were an Area 51 Nevada license plate, a fake Area 51 security pass, a Stealth Fighter model, and a couple of Alien I.D. cards.

My early evening routine after returning from work had been set in place. I would log onto the net and check alt.conspiracy.area51, then goto UFOMIND.com and see if there were any new additions to the mailing list. From there I would goto Hotmail.com to see if I had any E-mail from Dreamland 51, and couple of nights a week I would finish up by checking to see how many hits Dreamland 51 had. On any given evening it would take me between 20-120 minutes to complete this routine.

I had read every book on the subject I could find (which wasn't very many), taped every special on T.V. and printed up every useful bit of information on the net I could find. In the end, I was left with a house being over run with Area 51 crap, which lead to the greatest contribution to my obsession...... my Area 51 office. Yes, you read right, I now have a whole room in my home devoted to my research (and yes, I do realize how sick this is).

Prior to my sickness this room had been used for storage, storage of items which I had no use for anymore, but were to lazy to sort out. Well, this provided me that opertunity. What was once a room of nothing more than old boxes was now the research area of a full fledged obsessive moron!

Blue Prints, maps, political cartoons and pictures of Area 51 line the walls. A shelf constructed of cinder blocks and wooden planks house a small library of books on Dreamland, UFO's, underground bases, and just about anything else that can be loosely tied in to Area 51. There is a small desk with a file shelf that holds the topics I am currently researching, and along side the desk there is a file cabinet that holds all that information I printed up off the net. Yes, it is truely a disturbing sight to see.

At one point I could be found in there frequently, sorting through information, reflecting, theorizing, and on at least one occasion sleeping. Not so much any more though. Its not that I have found all the answers I am looking for (although I am satisfied that I have answered 90% of my questions sufficantly), its that the questions I don't have answers for seem unanswerable, at least for now. These questions revolve around the issue of (you guessed it!) alien craft at the Nevada Test Site. I am satisfied that IF our government has recovered extraterrestrial craft, the test sight would be the logical place to keep them, but that is a big "if".

Sadly, it seems I am left with two options, either A) Give up on Area 51 completly, or B) Expand my studies to include things such as the actual alleged recovery operations themselves. At this point I refuse to even consider the infamous "Roswell Case" There has been so much conjecture and misinformation in both directions if seems pointless and impossible to sort through it all now. Needless to say, there are interesting arguements in both directions, and I don't want to get caught up in the fight.

I have yet to decide which route to take, and in the grand scheme of things I suppose it doesn't really matter. Even if I did manage to convince myself that there were aliens visiting the earth what would it matter? And just because I believed it, that wouldn't make it so. But there is another side to the coin. Researching the possiblity of aliens visiting earth provides a great mystery, and I do love a good mystery! Looking back, I suppose its the mystery that attacted me to Area 51 in the first place.
