Asuras
We walked for what seemed like hours without speaking one word to
each other, so I decided to break the silence.
"So Landon, do you have any family?"
"No," he said quietly.
"Oh," I said, "Why not?"
He quickly said, "Please, just do not ever mention my family again. I
cannot bear to think about it."
"Okay, I'm sorry for ever asking."
Well, so much for trying to start a nice conversation. I didn't know what
to do after that so I just kept quiet.
BOOM
The earsplitting sound hurt my ears and the ground shook. When I thought it
was over the same thing happened again.
BOOM
"What the-"
"RUN!!!!!" Landon screamed.
I started to run as fast as I could. I tried to look behind me to see what
it was, but Landon yelled at me to not look behind and to keep running. I
thought that it was best to do what he said, so I followed orders. We ran
and ran until my side started to cramp.
"Please," I gasped, "can we stop running?"
Landon didn't answer me, but to my relief he started to slow down.
"Landon, do you know what that was?" I said still gasping for air.
"I think that it was an Asuras," he said.
"What is that?"
"It is a large orc that is the size of ten houses. It is a danger to
anyone smaller than it, which it pretty much every living creature on
this world. Once its eyes see you, you are pretty much as well as
dead. Well, that's what I have been told about them."
"I'm glad we escaped from it," I said.
"Me too," Landon replied. I noticed that he was shaking.
"Are you alright? You're shaking."
"Huh? Oh, I'm fine. It's just that orcs are one of the few creatures feared by my kind,
and seeing one that was bigger than normal was horrible."
"Why do you fear orcs over all other creatures that are much more
frightening and powerful? Orcs aren't the scariest things out
there."
Landon didn't reply to my question but just insisted that we start walking
again.
