Green Winds: A Magic Knight Rayearth Fan-fiction
**************************************************
BY ALINA:

Disclaimers: I do not own the MKR characters and story. That's
what fan-fiction means. If you like,
this is merely an enhanced summary of that tale, which is copyrighted
to a bunch of people that are not me. This rendition however
is *my* work.

This is about Fuu, and about Ferrio. I felt watching it that the story
merely skims the surface about what these two characters think, particularly
about each other. So here's my interpretation and imagination of that
hidden story. This follows the first season, so there are spoilers.

**************************************************************************
Ferrio stared as the three Mashin's floated upwards, carrying the three brave
girls to the final battle. Would it be enough? Could they do it? His
hand clenched. It had been necessary to give Hikaru his magical gem, but
he wished he had it. Just to...what? What could he say to Fuu now?

He remembered staring at her, after they'd defeated Innova's sacred beast
form. When he'd been sure that Hikaru was fine, he'd given them his gem and
explained what Emeraude had told them. He'd not revealed that
she was his sister, because he knew if he did that it might cause
them to rethink what they had to do. Nor did he tell them the
sad truth behind the legend.

He'd taken a step, ready to leave when Fuu had called his name.

"You were wrong, Ferrio." She'd started. "Again, you saved us.
I cannot forget you...I can fight better if I think of you."

Umi had gently nudged Hikaru away from the two, and in the small
bit of space on the all but destroyed landscape, Ferrio had turned back
toward Fuu. "Fuu, I'm sorry." He said taking her hands. "And
when Cefiro is saved....I'll...." He had stumbled then, at a loss for words.
When Cefiro was saved, she would return to her world.

Fuu had smiled bravely. "That's ok, Ferrio. I know that I must complete
our mission. But when we have..."

He had smiled back. "I will find you...I've got to get my gem back, right?"
He had said with a wink, as he'd turned and ran. Maybe she didn't
have to return, he thought. Maybe she would stay there with him.

Now, as he stared up into the sky, he wished he'd said what he'd been
thinking. But how could he? Light exploded in the sky, and he felt his
sister's energy in the spells flashing. Why was this the way things had
to be?

He couldn't even hear his sister anymore...his sister...just when he found
her, he lost her, he thought. Emeraude's last words to him, had been to ask for his forgiveness for her selfishness in falling in love with Zagato.

"I sent you away, my beloved little brother, because as the Pillar, I could
not prefer one person in Cefiro over another. And yet, I did...I couldn't
help myself from falling in love with Zagato. I've ruined this world,
and the Magic Knights are the only ones who can save me! Forgive me, even if you do not understand why..."

As the sky crashed around them, Ferrio gripped his sword tighter. He
forgave her...but he also understood what she felt. Separated by fate,
his sister had suffered not being with the one she loved.

And as the battle ended, he heard his sister's last words as she
thanked the Knights for saving her. They echoed in his mind, as did
a soft faint cry of Fuu's voice calling out his name. Then, he
heard nothing but silence.

The battle ended, the lights died, and the Knights returned home. He
felt something pull out of him as they left, or perhaps it was as his
sister died or because of both. "Fuu..."He called, as he shut his eyes.
She hadn't even been given the chance to say goodbye. In his hand
lay the gem he'd given her, returning to him magically just like she'd
returned to her world.

At least, he thought, Cefiro was safe. And suddenly, an earthquake
hit. As he staggered to avoid it, he heard a mental voice exclaim "To
the castle--it is the only safe place until a new pillar is born!"

Ferrio dashed off for safety, yet even in all the danger he could not
forget Fuu. At least, he thought, she would be safe in her world. Perhaps
it was better this way. He didn't want her to suffer anymore in the world Cefiro had become.

***************************************************************

Fuu stared out the window, absentmindedly packing her sister's lunch.
Again she stopped to dry the tears that came unbidden to her eyes.
She couldn't' cry now, on her way to school. People would wonder
at it. She needed to wait til bedtime, when she was alone in
her room. Then she could think about these things.

She turned, knowing that she was late but not caring to be early to school
that morning. Her mind wandered in the fields of Cefiro, so even if
she arrived on time to school she would not be there mentally.
One week had passed, and in that time, the pain had not lessened at all.

She sighed and called out to say she was leaving, and walked outside.
Steps pounded behind her, as her sister flew out of the house to
catch up with her. Fuu sighed again, realizing she must be late
if her sister was leaving.

Her sister stared at her. "Fuu-san, is something wrong?" Her sister
began in concern. "Please, talk to me if it is!"

Fuu appreciated her sister's support, but she knew that she could not
discuss this with her. She couldn't just say "Oh, I was
taken to another world, made a knight and trapped in a dark legend
that forced me to kill the Princess I'd set out to save. " So even
though she lied when she said there was nothing wrong, her sister
knew she lied.

"Fuu-san, its easier to bear things when you share them, you know!"
her sister added gently. "So, you are going to Tokyo Tower today?"

Fuu nodded.

"That's something! Romantic place, ne? Get me a souvenir!" Her sister smiled
knowingly. Fuu seemed lovesick. That was what was wrong, she thought, her
sisterly instincts kicking into overdrive. She demurred from saying this
out loud, but her words implied it in the wink she used with her words.
No wonder Fuu looked so sad! First love could always be such a tricky
thing...her little sister! They grow up so fast, she thought with a sigh.

Fuu smiled weakly, guessing what her sister thought as she watched her dash off. No, she thought, their adventures had not been that romantic and
her rendezvous at the tower with her fellow Knights certainly wasn't
a date. And Fuu didn't have a boyfriend as her sister thought. Ferrio
flashed before her mind. She would never see him again! She thought
sadly. Was he all right? Was Cefiro really saved?

That day at school flew by leaving little impression upon Fuu. The
other girls noticed something different about her, but did not keep it to
themselves. "You don't think she has a boyfriend? She looks lovesick!"
They whispered when they thought she couldn't hear. "No...not Fuu. I
couldn't picture her with anyone, could you? She's probably worried
about exams" "Oh, she's such a simple thing, she doesn't know what real
worry is about, like me, I think I like this older man and---"

Their girlish chatter had never annoyed her more. They were the ones
who didn't understand real worry. Ferrio. His name echoed through her
mind as she thought of him. She wished he were here with her, not stuck
in a dream world that rapidly became a nightmare. If only
she could go back.

As she entered the tower, she felt a chill run down her spine. She
wanted to go back. The thought repeated itself like an endless loop.
More than anything, she wanted to return to Ferrio and Cefiro.
As her eyes met those of Umi and Hikaru she
realized they wanted to return to that land as well. Would a strong
will work here on the earth, to reach Cefiro? She wondered as they
huddled together all three hearts united in the desire to return, even
if each had a different reason for wanting to go back. Her heart
and mind reached out to the universe, pleading for the ability to
return to Cefiro. And suddenly, she felt a bright light and she
fell onto the back of a flying beast of some sort. Apparently,
the universe listened.

**The End for Now***

This is where the first season ends. I have seen a bit of the
second season, but I know not all of it has been translated yet so I'll
wait until it is.
