Here you will buy all the weapons, and armor you will need to be a Hoplite in the Phalanx. First and foremost is the shield. It is called a HOPLON, and it is this that gives the Hoplite his name. The Shield is round and heavy and large. It covers from your knees to your throat. It also protects the man on your left, and that is why the Greeks fight in a close formation such as the Phalanx and rely upon eachother so much. Without this shield you can not fight with the Phalanx. You have two types to choose from. Both have a core of wood, but one is rimmed with bronze and has a leather face, while the other is completely faced in bronze. Your Polis has chosen the Gorgon as the symbol of the city and thus it is painted on all shields for sale. Choose your shield.
