Although the prefacing paragraphs on the cover page describe the motives behind Kenpo Journal, we feel that it is our duty to explicate a little more into the derivation of this particular magazine. The numbers of Kenpo practitioners, regardless of affiliation or style content ( i.e. American Kenpo, Okinawan Kenpo, Tracy Kenpo, Shaolin Kempo, Kara-Ho Kempo etc. ), are quite vast indeed. Additionally, the origin and subsequent fracturing of the Kenpo systems created through time is as equally important as the contemporary systems practiced today.
Our goal is to illuminate upon this subject, as well as their interdependence, with complete clarity and veracity. This in turn, will foster a deeper respect for the arts that we practice, and the relationships that we produce. No specific sides, opinions, or style will be favored, for if they were, it would be a complete prevarication and the direct opposite of every ethical code that defines our human constitution. The pursuance of truth and the perseverance therein will be our trademark. Our honor will be our sword and shield, and "Altruism above all" will be our maxim.
