Luna is the first Guardian Cat to make her appearance on the show. She has begun to regain her memory from her time spent on the Moon Kingdom a long time ago, and is searching for Sailor Moon. The forces of the Negaverse, who destroyed the Moon Kingdom in the first place, have come to Earth seeking the energy of its inhabitants. Luna knows Sailor Moon can stop them, but first she has to find her. It is Luna who gives Serena (Usagi) her Transformation Locket and Disguise Pen, and turns the ordianry, some-what wimpy girl into the Champion of Justice, Sailor Moon! It is also Luna who is responsible for discovering three of the other Senshi; Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter. Her role gradually decreases to something of a more comical nature as the many seasons wear on, but she is still well loved by all.
Artemis is the personal Guardian Cat of Sailor Venus, who had a short solo role as Sailor V before Sailor Moon ever came into being. He often seems brash and impetuous, but he has a truly good heart. He changes positions easily from being the Guardian and teacher of one Senshi to that of five, and later, ten (Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Chibi-Moon, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, and Pluto… not that the Outer Scouts NEED teaching…). Artemis develops feelings for Luna around the start of the fourth season, Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon SuperS. This is brought out into the open drastically and quite forcefully when a small gray kitten named Diana walks into his life and makes a big mess of it, as explained in her profile below…..
