The AV Interview

As a part of March 1999's Feature, N.V. interviewed four prolific online Noromos (via e-mail). This section was later expanded to include almost all (if not all!) great Noromo webmasters. One of the later interviewees was AV, the webmaster of an extensive site, popular newsletter, and debatably X-F's largest webring: AV's Random Link Exchange. The interview was divided into 3 parts - AV as an X-Phile, AV as a webmaster and lastly, AV as an a human bean.

When did you start watching The X-Files?
End of season three. I knew I was hooked for good.

Just off the top of your head, some classic episodes?
"Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" and "Trevor" are great. There are so many, though.

How long have you realised you were a Noromo? What do you think about the whole Shippers vs. Noromos thing?
It didn't take long. I realized that it would absolutely ruin the show if either of them got involved. I think that shippers are lonely, crazy people who sit in dark room stabbing voodoo dolls of Chris Carter, cursing him for not bringing them into bed together. (Sorry, I get this way.)

What was your opinion on the movie, and in particular, ~~that scene~~?
I loved it. ~~That scene~~ was great ... I laughed so hard when the Shippers in the theatre screamed when Scully got stung. Laughing my head off ...

How do you feel about the characters now (eg, are you a OBSSEsor, a Mulderist, a Frohike Liberationist)?
I like them all equally. But OBSSEsor would be the top of the pile.

I read it once in a while. I write it under the name AV. It is a bit everywhere. The Ferret Cage and on my site.

a brainflash! PART TWO: AS A WEBMASTER

How old is your site now?
Two and a few months.

What inspired you to create your site?
The X-Files! I also saw a lot of sites, but the owners didn't gget involved in contests and get to know the members. I try as often as I can.

Do you still enjoy updating it and looking after it?
Damn straight!

Have you had much interesting feedback from it, made any new friends / enemies?
Hell, yes! I have gotten hate from the show's haters and Buffy buffs. I delete them and laugh! I have made tons of friends!

Your site has a very slick design. How much webdesigning experience have you had? Do you do any professional designing? What do you think about X-F site designs, to generalise? Too green & black? J (I imagine you're as qualified as anyone to comment on this, you must have seen hundreds!)
Two and a few months experience. I mosly see a design I like and expand it a bit. There are things I can't do, so I have to know my limitations. I think that some XF sites are too, how do you say, uh ... boring. The site doesn't excite me. It doesn't want me to come back. I don't mind green and black, as long as it is used well. I hate yellow on magenta! AUGGGG!
