Welcome to Webmasters Unplugged! So, you've been to all the top websites, huh? Well, have you ever wondered what the Webmaster(s) was like? Or what inspired them to make that great site? Well, most Webmasters/Mistresses love positive feedback. So feel free to e-mail 'em!
But, some of you are too shy to write and ask questions, but you may still be curious about the people behind those kickin' sites. So, Webmasters unplugged will bring you some of the best PR webmasters around, kicked back and ready to discuss all sorts of things.
We've got tons of great Webmasters here, wating to talk. So, let's get interviewing!
This time up we've got Astroranger! *everyone cheers* Yes, he owns one of the best websites around, plus awesome character sites, loves PRiS (who doesn't?:)), and goes to school at the same time! How cool is that? He's also into gymnastics and he's one of my best online friends. To say he's busy is an understatement. :)
Ready to meet him? Okay, heeeere's....
When did you first discover PR?
I guess I could say I really first discovered PR when the Green Ranger
saga started. I wasn't really into it at first, but I did watch it to
past time during the morning before going to school. When my brother
wanted me to record the Green Ranger saga for him, I started to get
interested in it and then, I became a quick fan of it.
What inspired you to build a PR website?
I'm not really sure what inspired me. I sort of just tried to build one. I must have failed at least 4 or 5 times, therefore, deleting my first Geocities profile at least five times, but the last time I did try, I started to understand what I did. I built the PRiS page because I noticed there weren't too many Space sites out there, so I wanted to change that.
If you could be a ranger, which one would you be?Why?
What ranger I would be? Not really sure, I guess I would like to be like T.J., he's been my favorite ever since his first appearance. I've always like Power Rangers, but never really had a favorite until he showed up. I guess the reason I would choose him is because he's big, very athletic, helps people, and has great leadership qualities. Of course, some of this is the opposite of myself, so that's why I choose him. :)
Who would be on your "dream team"?
Well, my dream team would be all the Space Rangers with Zhane. I don't know, I'm not saying they're the best team in the entire PR saga, but something about them really touched me in my heart. I don't think I ever told anyone that. I never really gave it any thought until they left, but it's not because they are such great actors, but they touched me, I mean, it's the life I would like to have, to have friends who care about me and would like to hang out with. They just possessed so much that I hope to be like as I get older.
What keeps you interested in your site?
What keeps me interested in the site? Not really sure, I guess the actors mostly. I've taken a liking to Reggie Rolle and Archie Kao, even though Chris Khayman Lee, Patricia Ja Lee, and Selwyn Ward will always have a special place within my favorite. But, I would have to say that the actors keep me interested in the site and the way they do their character on the show.
What's your favorite PR genre?Why?
If you known me for quite some time, you know I love Power Rangers in Space. Once again, it has to do with that friendship and team work they share that makes it my favorite and the love Andros felt for Ashley, and towards Astronema. That last scene in Countdown to Destruction with Andros crying for Karone, that was so beautiful. I just think Space had a lot of scandal among the villains backstabbing each other, the rangers exploring totally new worlds and trying to save the galaxy while at the same time save Zordon. There was so much at stake that they couldn't afford to give up or lose the battle, no matter how much trouble they were in.
Do you have any other webpages?
No, I currently don't have any other webpages. At one time, I had thoughts of making a site for Kerri Russel, the actress who plays as Felicity on "Felicity", but I seem to be too caught up within the Power Ranger sites, I don't think I would have time to actually do it.
What advice can you give to someone who wants to create a PR site?
Advice... I'm not quite sure what advice to give. Well, if you're doing a webpage, I would advise that you check everything over and over again to make sure it's working properly. You would be surprised how much stuff can mess up with one extra HTML thing or something like that. Always make sure the pictures work and the text is easy to read and stuff like that. You want to make sure that all viewers have the same equal chance to view it. :)
What, in your opinion, makes for a good site vs. an okay, or bad one?
I really haven't given any thought about what makes a site better than another and so on. I guess it all depends how much info they give and how much heart they put into it.
What's your fave part about making your site?
Hmm.. to be honest, I really don't have a favorite part of making the site. It does take a lot of work sometimes, and if the Geocities File Manager doesn't cooperate, it can be a big frustration.
How long have you been making sites?
On May 28, 1999, it will have been one year since I've started making sites.
Do you have any other hobbies?
Other hobbies? Well, I enjoy playing lots of video games, especially games like Donkey Kong Countries 1, 2, & 3. Games like Zelda, and Resident Evil 2. Um, I also enjoy doing gymnastics and hope to take some karate some time during the summer.
How do you stay sane constantly updating and meeting the demands of visitors?
Well, I try to take some suggestions from the visitors and if I feel I can pull it off, I'll make the suggestion happen on the webpage. It all depends on the resources I have to do it. People usually don't have any complaints or suggestions on the sites I do.
In MMPR:TM, the rangers have animal spirits. What do you think yours would be, and why?
Animal spirit.... I've never given it any thought, although at one point someone did give me this site and I found out my animal spirit was some kind of bird, except I can't remember what it was exactly.
What's your favorite site, besides yours? :)
I really don't have a favorite site 'cause I love all the ones I go to.
What's your fave movie?
I usually don't get out to the movies that much, but I guess Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie would be my favorite.
What's the coolest experience of your life?
I think meeting Christopher Khayman Lee, Steve Cardenas, and Roger Velasco was the coolest experience of my life. I finally fulfilled part of my dream and hopefully, the rest will be complete in the future.
Scariest?
The scariest, I think that would be my first time at a gymnastics compeition. I was inexperienced in doing them, but after the first time, it became natural.
Person you respect most?
I respect my grandparents, who are now dead and have been for quite some time. They cared for me a lot and I promised that I would do whatever I could to make the proud. I also respect my mom a lot who puts up with me, and I respect Selwyn Ward a lot, since he's my rolemodel up to this date. Most of all, I respect God because he makes my dreams come true. :)
What do you look for in a friend?
I basically look for people who are nice to me and won't go around and start talking about me and that includes about me behind my back. Also, I look for people who give me a fair chance to prove myself, not like ones who just plain hate me for no reason and just say they do because they want to.
What's the thing you hate most about being a website owner/maker?
To be honest, I don't hate anything about being a site maker. It keeps me busy and it's alot of fun. But if there were something I did hate, it would probably be doing the HTML, sometimes, it's a pain in the butt.
What's your favorite joke?
Haven't heard many jokes, so I don't have a particular favorite.
What "big thing" do you want to accomplish?
The super biggest thing I hope to accomplish is actually work on Power Rangers. It's been a dream of mine since the seventh grade to be on that show and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get there. :)
What music do you like?
I'm not much a music listener. :oP
What's your favorite song?
Although I don't listen to much music, I do have a favorite song: Turbo Time by Ellen Ten Damme.
How would you describe yourself?
Not much to describe about myself. I'm usually pretty quiet and somewhat a loner and do whatever I can to help out when I'm needed. Sort of like the Phantom Ranger.
If you won the lottery today, what would you do with the money?
If I won the lottery, I would go visit all my net friends and take a trip to CA to find Tracy Lynn Cruz, Patricia Ja Lee, and Selwyn Ward. :)
Do you have a motto?
Nah, don't have a motto. :oP
I just like to say "Hopes Keeps Dreams Alive".
