Come, Ye Thankful People

Come, ye thank-ful people, come;
Raise the song of harvest home.
All is safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin.
God, our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied.
Come to God's own temple, come;
Raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God's own field,
Fruit unto his praise to yield,
Wheat and tares together sown,
Unto joy or sorrow grown.
First the blade, and then the ear,
Then the full corn shall appear.
Lord of harvest, grant that we
Whole-some grain and pure may be.

(Henry Allred)

In the "Olden Days" Thanksgiving was
the beginning of the Holiday seasons.

Now we see Christmas in the stores
before Halloween. What has happened
to Thanksgiving? Is it just another
day for football?

Can we put Thanksgiving back to where it
used to be? A month to reflect on the
blessings the Lord has given us.

LET THANKSGIVING DAY BE:

An Exciting END to a MONTH of
THANKFULNESS.

BEGIN NOW!

To show your thankfulness by doing some
thing for some else. Let this be the month
that we forget about what is going on in
our own lives.

BEGIN WITH AN ACT OF KINDNESS!

Find out who needs help and then do something
about it. Do an Act of Kindness each week.

END the month with A Thanksgiving dinner
that is shared.

  • Invite someone from the local nursing home
  • Invite the Missionaries
  • Find someone that is sad and lonely
  • Involve your children in preparing a
    Thanksgiving dinner to take
    to a family less fortunate
    than your family

Because I Have Been Given Much

Because I have been given much,
I too must give;
Because of thy great bounty,
Lord, each day I live
I shall divide my gifts from thee
With every brother that I see
Who has the need of help from me.

May God Bless each of us
and help us to remember indeed
we have been given much.
