...and speaking of freedoms...
I support the right of all Americans, gay or straight, to have
marriage rights now!
I don't smoke marijuana (cannabis sativa), and I doubt if I would if it were legal in the USA, but the many proven medical and industrial uses, including a diesel fuel substitute, merit consideration of its re-legalization. Several countries, including Canada, have legalized the growing of industrial hemp (cannabis indica), but the USA still drags it's feet.
Don't believe me? Then see what the US Government said back in 1943's! Using RealPlayer, watch a segment from the US Dept. of Agriculture Film Hemp For Victory. This film proves the industrial values of hemp so well, that after WW2, the US Goverment denied that the film ever existed! (The last known copy was found in the Library of Congress.)
If you have 20 minutes, you can watch a video on making a diesel fuel substitute from hemp oil!

AMERICANS UNITED FOR THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
(Also known as "Americans United")
This has left my mind reeling.
Two unemployed British vegitarian activists exercised their right to pass out copies of a leaflet critical to the labor and environmental aspects of the McDonald's Corporation (namely, "What's Wrong With McDonalds?").
They found themselves in the middle of a legal malestrom that they lost, but had very strange effects for the plaintiff.
The McDonalds Corporation unintentionally found itself in one of the most expensive libel suits in international legal history, became the subject of a world-wide labor and environmentalist boycott that was covered by worldwide media sources, and left McD's spin doctors working overtime to this very day!
It's a very long and complicated story, that starts at mcspotlight.org, and is very well worth your time.

Southern Poverty Law Center
Morris Dees' legal group that has successfully taken many Hate groups, including several Ku Klux Klan factions, to court.
Dees' offices have been firebombed, his life has been been threatened, and this only serves to strengthen his resolve (Lesser men would have given up by now).
"Poverty law" is a term meaning to defend those who cannot afford legal council, often for free as a public service ("pro bono").
This is Mark Pitcavage's acclaimed, extensive and exhaustive(!) on-line resource on the current phenomenon of "Patriot", "Citizens Militia", "Sovereign Citizen" and "state Citizen" movements in the USA (or is that "These united States of America, Non-Corporate"?). Features an incredible collection of links, articles and graphics. NOTE: No longer updated. Now an archive site.
