Day 2 Wednesday March 26, 2003

I slept nice and late today like I had planned getting up a little after 12. Today I plan on going over to the Rio to give them some action. I’ve been reading people have been getting some great room deals from this place so I need to get back in good with them. I used to play here quite a bit but since Harrah*s took over I stopped going here.

I walked around looking for some decent quarter video poker and finally stumbled onto a multi game machine with 8/5 bonus with a progressive royal flush. The royal was only at $1062 but this was my game of choice here. This machine sucked up a $100 in no time at all. I decided to try another $100 and after 5 more hours of action I finally cashed out with $100. I had earned 592 reward credits today. If only Harrah*s would tell us how much play it took to get a reward credit.

While I was playing here I was able to catch the Carnival show in the sky. Over all of the years this show has been happening I have never seen it until today. I thought it was ok but probably not really worth a special trip out to the Rio to see it. This is the show where they throw those Mardi Gras beads out to the crowd from the floats that people will kill in order to get. To this day I am still puzzled as to why people go ape shit in order to get these beads. I’ve actually seen grown adults pushing little kids out of the way in order to get these things.

After cashing out I went to play some craps. The game here was $5 and offers 3, 4, 5x odds. I got ahead a little bit at first but a couple of shooters really sucked. I ended up losing about $90 here before deciding to quit.

I went over to the slot club and got a comp for $30 based on my slot action. I went to the Sao Paulo Café. Here I ordered a full rack of ribs. The ribs came with baked beans and cornbread and green beans. The ribs came with their special Coca-Cola BBQ sauce and I’ll be a son of a bitch but it kind of did taste like Coke a little bit. The service sucked in here tonight. The waitress Juanita kept apologizing saying she has a table with a party of 8 and it was keeping her away. Gee, maybe they could have waited for 3 seconds while you took my order instead of me waiting 15 minutes until you took theirs. Sometimes I just don’t get the way people do things. The food was very good and I topped it off with a brownie ice cream sandwich. This was 2 brownies with a scoop of double chocolate ice cream in-between. It was pretty good but pretty pricey at $5. I’d say it was worth 3 bucks tops. NOTE TO HARRAH*S: $2.25 for a watered down soda is a bit much, don’t you think?

After dinner I headed back over to the Gold Coast. I had all intentions of playing in here tonight but after a nearly 6 hour run at Rio on video poker I decided to call it a day and come up here and take it easy. It’s about midnight now and my eyes hurt and I’m tired. Bedtime will be soon!

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $75
Total out of pocket expenses $4
