Wednesday March 27, 2002

Up around 7:30 again today. It’s pretty unusual for me to be getting up this early. Today’s plan isn’t too exciting so far. First thing will be to go downtown again and get those points added to my account at the 4 Queens.

I parked at the Golden Nugget in the self-park garage when I got downtown. I knew I wouldn’t be long so I wasn’t worried about going over the 3-hour limit for free parking. I went over to the 4 Queens and turned in my coupon for 500 points. While I was there the girl said I had 30 drawing tickets available and a chocolate bunny. I took those items as well and spent a while filling out the tickets. She said the points would be added within the next 24 hours.

After I was done at the 4 Queens I went up to the North end of the strip. I made a stop at the Riviera to see CC at the Continental City ticket office. I wanted to check and see if my ticket was in order for the flight home since the jerks at America West screwed me. Sure enough it wasn’t in order. CC made a few calls and got everything taken care of. While I was there Gary showed up and we all went to lunch at Kady’s coffee shop. I had an order of pork fried rice. It was good and filling. After lunch CC went back to work and Gary headed out. My plan was to hit Slots-a-Fun. They are tied into the new Mandalay Resort Group One Card slot club program and they are offering double points today. This means .66% cash back which is high on video poker, especially on the Strip. They also have a card of the day promotion where is if hit a quad in that card you get a bonus. Today that card was 9’s.

My first stop was to go to the slot club booth over at Circus-Circus to get a new card. Since they combined all the cards I haven’t been there to get my new one. This went quick and I was on my way over to Slots-a-Fun in no time. I hadn’t been to Circus-Circus in a while but I still had 319 points on my card. I went out the side door and got my fun book that offers 2 free spins on the tightest free play machines in the world. I didn’t even win the whopping 50 cents that I get sometimes.

I looked for the 1 FPDW machine in the place and I found it. Unfortunately there was a guy playing it. Agggghhh. The damn guy is playing 1 coin at a time and tying up the best machine in the house on a double points day. I chose an 8/5 Bonus Aces machine but this had the annoying double up feature on it so I cashed out. I looked up and the guy was gone from the FPDW machine. I quickly ran over to it and played. Things weren’t going too well here. The deuces were out to lunch and I wasn’t hitting enough quads to keep alive. I dropped $60 here in no time at all. From here I moved over to a Triple Play machine that had 9/6 Jacks or Better. I settled in here and played for about 2 hours. I was up and down here and eventually finished up ahead $10 for the session based on hitting 4-9’s about an hour into my play. This paid a $10 bonus. Now I had 1766 points on my card. 1447 of them were from today. I actually played 723 of those at $7.50 each for over $5,400 coin in. I’m wondering if this will generate any type of offers.

After I left S.O.F. I went back over to the Riviera to get the car and came back here to the Silverton. I still have the coupon they sent me that’s good for $20 in the coffee shop so my plan is to go order the most expensive thing they have tonight! I’ll follow that with a little play since they also sent me a coupon good for $10 in slot play too.

Dinner at the Fireside Café consisted of their 22oz Porterhouse Steak. It was one of the better steaks I’ve had in a coffee shop. It comes with soup or salad and dinner rolls.

After dinner I played some blackjack. I sat head to head playing 2 hands on a double deck games. I was betting low at only $10 per hand. Of course things were really good here because I wasn’t betting greens like I normally do on the blackjack tables. I won just over $100 here and cashed out after losing 5 or 6 hands in a row.

After casing out I went to the craps table. It was tough here. I lost most of what I won at the blackjack table. I dared someone to make a point. It just wasn’t happening. I took a walk around for a few minutes and then went back for one more shot at the craps table. I was shooting alone. It’s not as much fun that way but I was doing well. A few new players came over after a few minutes. On one of my rolls I held the dice for about 20 minutes. That’s my new record. Then it seemed no one else could seem to make any numbers. They would just establish a point then 7 out. This pretty much sucked everything I made on my roll right down the drain. I quit after I lost everything I made at the blackjack table and ended another day.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total comps for the day $61 (plus a chocolate bunny)
