Day 8

Today I got up early to finish getting ready for today’s trip home. After I get everything packed up and loaded into the car I went to check out and check with my host make sure we were all set on the charges.

The next stop was to the cage to pay back the marker from last night. This is starting to get painful constantly paying back markers this trip. Once that was taken care of I was on my way out of the Hard Rock and off to take one last drive through town and returning it. I had plenty of time so I stopped at Jack in the Box for one last meal. I know this stuff is crap but we don’t have them in NY so I only get to have it when I’m out in Las Vegas!

From Jack in the Box I went over to the Pinball Hall of Fame for one last round of games. This place is just too much fun and a really great value for your money. Please support this place so it stays open and I have somewhere to go when I’m not gambling!

When I got to Avis returning the car was a breeze and then I was on the shuttle to the airport.

Check in at the airport was very quick except for the fact the baggage tag printer ran out of paper and the nerd running the terminal I was at didn’t know how to fix it. Security was a little bit backed up but it wasn’t that bad. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. It was just the same assholes that always seem to do the same stuff like trying to bring water, and those that like to try to wear their Mr. T starter kits through the metal detectors. Then as always there are the ass clowns that try to bring full sized luggage through.

I’m on flight 1469 and it departs at 2:20pm. The movie on the way home is Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller. I decided to watch it and it was ok. Nothing outstanding but it passed the time and it wasn’t boring.

The meal was a light lunch consisting of a small salad and a prepackaged beef and Swiss cheese sandwich. It was pretty much a beef patty with Swiss cheese on it. It wasn’t very good but I’ve certainly had worse.

The flight was very bumpy initially and it was quite windy out this afternoon. We actually waited on the runway for about 30 minutes while they decided which direction and runway we’d take off on.

Things smoothed out and the rest of the flight was smooth with no bumps. We landed in Newark at about 11pm.

After we landed I headed to baggage claim where I waited about 15 minutes for my luggage. Both of my bags came out at the same time and were some of the first ones out. Every thing went well and I was on my way up to the shuttle to Avis where I would be picking up my car for the return ride home.

I got a rate of $56 for the one day rental of a full sized car using a discount code through my company. They gave me an upgrade to a Toyota Highlander with 5000 miles on it and I was on my way home.

The ride home was uneventful as it usually is at this hour of the day. I finally pulled into my driveway at 1am and yet another trip had come to an end.

Final Thoughts

• One way/day rental car prices seem to be creeping up in price
• Avis seems to be renting les and less GM cars and more Fords
• Avis had a great weekly rate in Las Vegas this trip
• Continental has been consistently lower in price than USAir
• Parking in one hotel for the whole week was a nice change
• I love playing promos at casinos and coming out ahead
• Cannery is still on of my favorite places to play promos
• Terrible’s will be getting more of my play in the future
• The view from the Hard Rock room is really great
• The swings I had on this trip were painful
• It was exciting being dealt a royal flush on a Five Play machine
• Although many hate it, Circus – Circus isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be
• I continue to get great mail offers from Circus – Circus
• I think the Hard Rock has some of the best Craps dealers in town
• Five play video poker is a lot of fun but can be streaky
• Although I don’t stay there much anymore I still enjoy Main Street Station
• The Hawaiian people at Main Street Station take their craps game really seriously
• The Hilton’s Steakhouse is really good but the prices are just too damn high there
• The Pinball Hall of Fame is my favorite non-gambling activity
• I really like getting 10X odds on craps as opposed to 3-4-5
• I liked the food at Simon Kitchen but it was a bit pricey
• It was good to see Fiesta Henderson switch back to 10X odds
• The weather was perfect this trip in the mid 70’s all week long
• I played over 36,000 hands of video poker and hit 7 royals
• This trip brings my winning Las Vegas record to 21 – 11 – 1
• My next trip will be in late June - July
