Thursday March 28, 2002

I was up early again today. This is going to eventually catch up to me. I shouldn’t be getting up this early. I should be sleeping until noon! Today is moving day. I’ll be checking out of Silverton and going up to Summerlin to the Suncoast for the next 4 nights. I booked this room through superhost Donna Sinclair through e-mail. You may remember from my last report I was given an upgrade to a 1-bedroom suite for my birthday. When I booked this reservation I was asked if I would like a suite again. Well duh. There’s a question I don’t think I really need to answer!

After I packed everything up I and loaded the car up I went to checkout. They don’t have the TV check out here so I actually went to the front desk. I had no charges other than a few local phone calls. One note from check out was a guy that decided he was too good to wait in line behind me and just went right to the next agent when one was available. What a dick he was. If you saw him and the way he acted you would have agreed too.

After check out I went to the casino quick to use my $10 in free play. The way it works is you track down a slot attendant and show them the machine you are going to play and they stick a $10 bill in for you. I lost the $10 with no hits other than 1 pair of jacks. From here I had a quick lunch in the Fireside Café. I had the prime rib sandwich. The meat was great but the mashed potatoes were on the cold side. I paid for this meal with points from my account right at the cashier and I was on my way.

I took the new beltway that circles the city up to Summerlin. This is a great way to get to this part of town. There was no traffic at all it’s an easy ride. This road takes you right to the foot of the mountains on the west side of town. When I got to the Suncoast the parking lot looked packed but I was lucky enough to get a spot close to the door!

I tried to check in but it was too early and my suite wasn’t ready yet so I went to the casino to play for a while. I tried my luck with a single line quarter Bonus Poker machine. It wasn’t the greatest machine but I hit a few quads to keep me going. Other than these though the hits were far and few. I was actually down to my last few credits and hit a few quads within a few hands of each other. I actually hit 4 queens 4 times during this session that lasted about an hour and a half. Why wasn’t hitting 4 queens that easy the other night when I really needed them? I cashed out even and went to see if the room was ready yet.

There was actually someone in line at the check in desk here. This was a first for me here since I had never waited before. It was just a short wait and when I got there my room was ready. The girl asked me if I wanted access to the fitness center and said that it’s free. I’m probably not going to use it but I said yes anyway. What the hell, it’s free! Then she hands me a release form that talks about how working out can cause heart attacks and other health issues and how the hotel isn’t going to be responsible if have one.

She gave me the keys and 3 funbooks and I was on my way. These funbooks are weak compared to the old ones. There are not any gaming coupons in them other than a 20 coin bonus on any hand over 500 coins.

This room is set up identical to the room I had in December other than the color scheme. This room has blacks and tans and the woods are a lighter color as opposed to the cherry I had last time. I liked this room better. I had a full view of the golf course and pool areas. For those that didn’t get to see my description of this room in my last report, it’s a 1-bedroom suite with a living/dining/wet bar room and a separate bedroom. It’s 1100 square feet and is actually larger than my house. That’s only 1096 square feet! The only odd thing about these suites is there in no Jacuzzi tub. There is only a regular tub.

I got unpacked and had a snack and then the getting up early every day hit me. It was time for a nap. I slept for about an hour and then it was time to hit the casino again. This time I played some quarter FPDW. This game just wasn’t cooperating with me today. It wasn’t unusual for me to go 20-30 hands with no winners. I blew through $100 in about an hour and took a short break and walked through the casino. I returned to play some more deuces and lost another $100. I got some decent playtime in though. Losing sucks but at least if I get to play for a while it’s not so bad. I walked over to the other end of the casino and played deuces on a different bank of machines over by Terrible Mike’s. This machine was treating me much better than the other one I played. I was getting my fair share of quads and after about an hour I hit 4 deuces for the 1000 coins pay off. Of course I forgot I had the bonus coupon so I didn’t get my extra 20 coins. I kept playing with the thought of quitting if I got the meter back up to $300 which would break me even for the day. I hit a few big hands and went over $300 so I was going to play the meter own to $300 and quit. I was dealt 4 to a royal (for about the 10th time today) and without thinking much about it held all four and pulled the 5th card to hit my second royal in 3 days. (Remember that penny royal flush at Fiesta Henderson Tuesday?). Of course, I forgot the friggen coupon again! The nice thing about the ticket in ticket out system is the royal just registered on the credit meter. There is no waiting around for hand pays. I quick ran up to the room after cashing out and grabbed my camera. I was hoping no one would touch my machine since I left the royal on the screen. I made it back in time to take a few pictures of it. They didn’t come out great and of course a floor person yells me for taking a picture of the machine. Luckily I already got a few shots before she caught me!

After cashing in my ticket it was time to eat. I went over to Café Siena to grab one of their 99-cent late night specials. I ordered the 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 bacon special. I think I had record service here because my food was delivered in less than 5 minutes. After eating I came back up to the room to wind down for the night.

Total win/loss for the day +$1000
Total comps for the day $75
