Day 5 Saturday March 29, 2003

I again had to force myself out of bed to meet up with Mike up at the Fiesta. Our plan today was to have lunch at the buffet with the coupon I had from their mailer and then do a little casino hopping. When I got up there I found Mike at a deuces machine. Our first move was to the buffet. Today was seafood day. They also have all of the regular foods along with the shrimp and crab legs. The food here was pretty good but of course I’m not a big fan of buffets.

After lunch our first move on the casino hopping was to play craps here. We played alone on the $3 game with 10X odds. I was shooting and was having a great roll hitting point after point and getting paid on my come bets. I also had a coupon from the mailer they sent me. It was good for a free $5 bet and $1 bet for the dealers. Figuring this was totally free I wanted a shot at some decent cash with and out of the blue threw it out on the table and yelled hard 8, picked up the dice and proceeded to roll a hard 8 for a nice $50 and $10 for the boys. Mike couldn’t believe what had just happened and it was the main topic for the rest of the day. We both rolled the dice 2 times each and then cashed out with our profits. I ended up winning $180 in this short session partly from the great coupon move I made!

The next move was to head over to Green Valley Ranch. We took my rental car. Mike grabbed a soda from his car and we were on our way. As I was pulling out of the parking lot I heard a noise that sounded like a soda popping open but Mike didn’t have one. The can on the floor somehow rolled into the bracket that the seat rides on and put a hole in it. Mike picks it up and the inside of the car gets sprayed with soda and then flings it out the window.

We finally made it up to GVR and walked around a bit. We walked into a $5 game with 10X odds. This table wasn’t very good and I lost $93 here and we were both on our way. The next stop was going to be Silverton and after Mike decided to open a soda in the car and once again spray down the interior we were on our way.

I made a wrong turn on the way to Silverton and ended up on the 15 and got off on the strip at Russell Road. Not a major issue, as I will just take the strip to Blue Diamond. Just as I pass the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign Mike yells out “Oh, The Klondike, let’s go!”. Hesitant I swung a U-turn and in we went. This place was everything I thought it was going to be. A total shit hole! This place reeked of stale cigarette smoke from 10 years ago. We both played $1 in a short pay deuces machine just so we could say we played there. This place was on par with the Rainbow, Eldorado and Skyline out in Henderson and the Longhorn.

After airing out for a minute it was on to the Silverton. They have 10X odds and today the game was $5. This table was ice cold. I was down $200 and Mike ran away to play VP. It was my turn to shoot so I bought in for another $100. I really sucked throwing the dice today. As I was down to about $25 left in my pile of chips things changed. A shooter next to me rolled the dice for about 45 minutes and not only did I win back all of my buy-ins, I walked away with a $10 win! Mike also got back into the game and had a nice come back.

I had a mailer from Silverton with a bunch of coupons, most of which were expired but there was 1 that was good for $10 in slot play. They actually put a $10 bill in the machine for you. I tried my luck on the one and FPDW machine in the place. Things didn’t work out and it was time to move on.

The next stop was to the Suncoast. There were no plans on serious play here but the main reason was to go up here and collect the cash back off my slot card. Since they are changing things around at Coasts I thought it would be wise to get it while I can and not risk losing it. I had $80 here and after collecting we hit the $2 game with lame ass double odds. We lost here and I dropped about ½ of the cash back they gave me.

This would wrap up the casino run for the day. Mike had plans on meeting same friends back up in Henderson. The plan was to hit more places but we played longer than expected in most casinos and this changed things a little bit.

When we got up to Henderson we met up with Mike’s friends. Mike went to get cleaned up and I hit the craps table. It started out ok but got tough and I dropped $100 before we headed up to the buffet again for dinner. All of the servings were the same as this afternoon except there was now prime rib on the buffet for dinner. There was no change in anything else and it was as good as it was for lunch.

After dinner we split up and played some video poker. Me and Mike played FPDW. I couldn’t seem to hit anything and then went into a funk and started going 20-30 hands at a time with no wins at all. I dropped another $100 here and we moved on to the $1 craps table with 10X odds. This table was up and down going from ice cold to red-hot. After about 4 hours of playing this game we were both wiped out of $200 a piece. It was now 3am and time to come back to the strip.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $318
Total out of pocket expenses $5
