Day 7 Sunday March 31, 2003

Today’s plan is to go to the south end of the strip to play in a few places down there and to go to the meet at Monte Carlo that was organized on the Las Vegas Talk Discussion Board. I got to the meet at 2:30. There were about 10 people there for this one. After the meet it was time to do a little hit and run play on the craps tables at the south end of the strip. Since the tables were packed at Monte Carlo the first stop was over to Boardwalk. They say they are the home of the $3 table but the craps table had a $5 minimum. I bought in and made a pass line bet with odds and placed the 6 & 8. The shooter here was on fire and hit quite a few of his points along with the 6 & 8 quite a bit. I walked away from this game with $155 win. I think if I had been playing my regular way making come bets with odds, I would have won around $500. The win of $155 is ok with me though.

The next move was over to New York-New York. An interesting note about my walk over to NYNY from Boardwalk I walked past 2 people that were passing a joint between each other. Yes, right out in the open on the sidewalk! NYNY was packed on their $5 game so I passed her and walked over to Excalibur. Their game was packed as well so over to the Luxor I went. I got onto a game here bought in for $200. They have standard strip rules with 3, 4, and 5X odds. This was one of the greatest tables I’ve ever been on. I was making a line bet here with 2 come bets and full odds. Every shooter that had the dice made the table money. This was one of the best tables I ever played on. After winning over $500 I colored up and ran away. For the first time on this trip I was actually ahead overall.

It was getting late now and I didn’t hit as many casinos as I planned because of the good runs I had at Boardwalk and Luxor. I got my car from the valet at Monte Carlo in near record time even though there were quite a few people ahead of me. The trick here is to tip the attendant at the booth and you may end up at the head of the line!

When I got back to the New Frontier I went over to the slot club booth and got a comp to the Orchard Café based on my blackjack action last night. They gave me an unlimited comp and that means it was time to do some damage. I ordered an appetizer of Mozzarella sticks and the blackened rib eye with Cajun spices. The sticks were great and the steak was just fair. For a rib eye it was pretty tough. I topped off this huge meal with a slice of chocolate cake.

After dinner I played for a short while at the Frontier and then headed out to the Hard Rock. I cashed out here with a $1 profit on this machine! Hey, don’t knock it; it’s better than losing a buck! The Hard Rock is one of my favorite places to play and as soon as I got there I was able to find a spot at the craps table. I bought in for $500 and started to play. The table was choppy with everyone making money on one shooter and then losing it on the next. There was one guy next to me that was betting big money but didn’t really know what he was doing. He was putting $100 on the line and backing it with $25. Then he was betting all the dumb shit out in the middle of the board with $50-$100 a roll. He was wondering why he was losing too. Did I mention he was a real asshole too? Well, he was! After he kept losing he decided he was going to put $50 on the don’t. This turned out to be the worst move he could make tonight because it was MY turn to shoot. My point was 10 and this dumb ass lays $100 in odds. In a great move in the first roll after the point was made I bring the 10 right back for the win (and wipe out the asshole next to me). I had the dice a while longer before going out. The guy next to me shot next and sucked. He finally quit and left and everyone at the game was happy including the dealers.

Soon after this the table went bad. I went from being about even to having only $3 left in front of me (plus what was on the board). The dealer next to me said wow, I can’t believe how bad it got. I told him I’ve come back before from this far down and today it would try again tonight. Sure enough a little while later I was all of the back up to $600 after being down to just $3. The table leveled out for a while and then took a dive. I was the only one left at the table and shooting ok one time, then bad the next. I was telling the dealer about the coupon move I made up at the Fiesta on the hard way the other night and he said go for it again. I told him I don’t normally bet the hards but what the hell and took a 2 way hard 6 for $1. Next roll I throw a hard 6. Finally some more players came to the table and I got a much needed break from shooting since I was cutting my own throat. Unfortunately the table remained bad and I was down to nothing in my rack and all of the money I had was on the board. I didn’t even have enough left to take full odds on my last come bet.

This shooter was on fire and hit all of my numbers and quite a few points before going out. The next 2 shooters were also on fire and soon I was back up to $600 from having nothing left. The streaks tonight were amazing and I couldn’t believe the swings. I knew I was here a long time but didn’t really pay much attention to the time. I finally realized it was really long because I had already heard the music that was playing on the PA I had already heard. A look at the time and it was 3:30am. I had been standing at this table for over 5 hours. It was no wonder why my legs were killing me! I finally cashed out with a small profit and came back to the Frontier to call it a night.

Total win/loss for the day $700
Total comps for the day $125
Total out of pocket expenses $6
