Day 12
Saturday April 3, 2004

Flight:
My flight home is earlier than I normally like to go but like the flight out it’s a frequent flier ticket and flights are limited. This is flight 683 and was scheduled to leave at 12:40pm. It will be heading to Phoenix but I won’t have to change planes. From Phoenix it’s non-stop to Newark. We got to Phoenix on time and there wasn’t really any time to leave the plane. After a quick clean up of the plane the new passengers boarded. We got a late start because of some late arriving luggage. It was nothing major and we were on our way for the 4 hour flight back to Newark. I slept through most of the flight missing out on getting my mini pretzels and soda for the flight and I didn’t even watch the movie. 3 hours of sleep just didn’t cut it the night before!

We arrived in Newark at 10:55pm and I made my way to baggage claim. After just a short wait both of my bags came out and I was on my way. This was the shortest amount of time I have ever waited to get both of my bags in Newark. From here it was on to the monorail to Avis.

Dining:
Dining today was weak at best. Before I left Vegas I ate a bag of Doritos and a soda. On the plane I ate a package of Pop Tarts and on the way home from the airport I stopped at McDonalds and had a cheeseburger value meal. Isn’t that something? I go from eating Prime Rib, Filet Mignon, and rib eye steaks to eating friggen McDonalds!

Transportation home from airport:
I had reserved a Luxury car from Avis so I could get back home to Newburgh. I’ll be dropping this car off tomorrow at my local airport. Nothing beats driving a Luxury car. For some reason when I book far enough in advance going from Newark to Stewart with Avis the Luxury cars are just a few bucks more than the smaller cars. This time the difference was less than $3. How can you pass up a Cadillac for an extra $3.00?

Of course this Avis location is famous for being VERY slow and tonight was no exception. Tonight they had an excuse though. The computers were down. Then, as always they didn’t have a Cadillac ready. After a 25 minute wait I was finally on my way home. This car was fully loaded and even had the new XM Satellite Radio. It’s a neat concept but it’s like cable TV. You’ve got 100 stations and can’t find anything you want to listen to! I finally rolled into my driveway at 1:30am and another trip was now over.
