Day 11 Friday April 4, 2003
I got up pretty early today and finished packing up my stuff for today’s moved and went online for a while. Today I will be making my final move of the trip up to Fiesta Henderson.
My first stop was the south end of the strip. I hopped a bit down here starting off at San Remo. I was the only one on this craps table and I was throwing a bunch of numbers I wasn’t on and sevened out after that. After 3 rounds of this I quit with a $38 loss.
The next stop was over to the Tropicana. I found a table with plenty of space but it had a $15 minimum. I though this was odd especially at noon even though it was a Friday. The other table was $10 and packed so I passed and went up to Mandalay Bay. I got ahead here on one hot shooter but then lost most of it back on the next 2 shooters. I left here with a $21 win.
Next up was MGM Grand. This place was already packed and most of the games were full. I got onto a $10 game even though I don’t usually play this level. Instead of come bets this time I took a chance with placing the inside numbers. 2 good shooters got the profits up and I was going to leave with the win but it was my turn to shoot. Of course I cut my own throat and lost a good chunk of the profits. I still walked with a $51 profit though.
It was getting later in the day and after a quick stop at the post office on Sunset Road I got up to the Fiesta Henderson to check in. There was no line and I was on my way to room 7114 after a short protest of the bullshit energy charge. Comped nights don’t get hit with this stupidity but paid for nights do. This may sound odd but only my first 2 nights are comped and the next 3 are casino rate. I booked this through my host and if my action won’t cover the other nights I have plenty of points to cover it. The girl at the desk made a note about my comments regarding the energy and said she’d pass it along. My point was it’s a tacky charge and if they need extra money to make up the difference to make the room rate $43 instead of $40. The only thing tackier is this trend of $4 bottled water placed on counters in the bathrooms of many hotels these days.
After getting into the room and getting moved in I was starving and went to dinner at the Baja Beach Café. I ordered baked ziti from the daily specials. It was a bowl full of ziti with meat sauce and cheese that would feed a family of 4. It’s way too much to eat in one sitting and it’s only $4.95.
Today is 5X points day so that means it’s a good day to play hard on the machines. I found a bank of FPDW by the sports book and started to play. This machine wasn’t very nice and I dropped $100 in no time and only got $180 in play out of it. I moved to the machine on the other end of the bank and tried again. I hit 2 wild royals and a few 5 of a kinds and got everything back that I had lost on the first machine. I got quite a bit of play here but and cashed out even on this machine. I was going to play craps but saw a seat open at the 10-coin FPDW and jumped into it. This machine was keeping pretty steady and I was going anywhere from –200 coins to +200 coins. The wild royals weren’t happening but I was getting enough quads to stay in the game. The highlight of this session came when I dumped a junk hand and up popped 4 deuces for $500! I played a bit longer and lost the $100 I bought in for.
I was going to quit for the night but decided to play craps. I got ahead here quickly thanks to a good shooter but he was the only one that did any good. Everyone else including myself sucked and I lost everything I won on deuces.
Before bed I went to the coffee shop and got the late night ham steak and eggs special. It’s a huge (and they mean huge) ham steak with 2 eggs, toast, and hash browns for $3.49. This is way too much food to eat, just like most items on the menu! At 2am it was finally time to get to bed.
