Day 12 Saturday April 5, 2003

I got up a little later than I had planned so I quickly got ready and out the door. After a quick stop to drop off my dirty laundry at the laundromat I headed downtown to casino hop a little bit. Downtown make casino hopping a little easier since everything is so close. My first stop was at Main Street Station. This was a horrible table that would roll a few numbers then 7 out. I dropped $134 here in no time and ran out the door.

My next stop was Piss Palace, I mean the Plaza. Since they have stopped using that lemon scent cleaner the place doesn’t smell as bad other than the 20-year-old smoke imbedded in the walls. I bought in on a $2 game with 10x odds. The game started off good but went to hell pretty quick. I dropped another $29 in here.

Next up was the Golden Gate with their $3 game. I got in after a shooter made his point and had one hell of a roll. When he shot most of the time he either threw craps or hit his point. After shooting for 15 minutes and hitting 6 points he finally went out. I stayed for one more shooter and cashed out with a $111 win.

Next stop was the lovely El Cortez. When I first walked up to the door I noticed that they blew the budget on this place since my last visit by installing automatic doors at the side entrance! After I got inside and checked out all of the strange people in the place I got onto the $1 craps game. Apparently the guy shooting had the dice for quite a while. When he went out it was my turn to shoot. This guy thought it was going to be a good idea to throw $75 (this guy must be a whale in El Cortez standards) on the don’t. I was quite proud of myself for throwing an 11 on the come out. He dropped to $25 on the don’t but didn’t lay odds. I was quite proud that I made 4 points and beating this guy out of a big chunk of cash was nice. I walked out of here with a $21 profit feeling the need to be hosed down to get the smoke off of myself.

On the way back to the main part of Fremont St I walked past a shop that had a wooden Indian Statue in their entrance. I thought it was kind of interesting that there was some guy standing there having a nice conversation with this Indian. He was even patting him on the shoulder trying to encourage him.

After checking out this little show I went over to the Lady Luck. I’ve never had much luck in here and today was no exception. I made line bets here and placed the inside numbers and the guy shooting proceeds to throw 4 fours in a row followed by 2 tens and a 7. So of the 6 numbers he hit I make no money on. I shot next making a point then going out right away on the next point. This table was pretty cold but due to a break in dealer and a little confusion I got paid on the same number twice. The number rolled was 8 and he stared paying the players with 6. When the box man told him it was 8 he paid everyone again. Even with this bonus money I still dropped 70 bucks in here.

It was getting late now but I needed to make a stop at the Las Vegas Club. I’ve never lost playing here and have actually had 2 of my greatest rolls ever in this place. I opened this game up and almost lost it all before another player came in to have a great roll. The next shooter was great as well and I was up quite a bit. The next few shooters pretty much broke even and it was my turn to shoot. Things were going good so I upped my odds and then immediately went out. I lost most of what I was up but still got out of here with a $35 win to remain undefeated at the Las Vegas Club!

I headed back up to the Fiesta and had dinner in the coffee shop again. Tonight I had the orange peel chicken off the Chinese menu. It was pretty good but I probably won’t get it again. Like the other meals I’ve had here this week there was too much food to eat for the $7 they charge. I topped off this meal with some ice cream and then hit the casino.

I got a seat at the FPDW slant tops. This machine was tough and after popping in $100 I was down to the last $20. The deuces just weren’t showing up and the very important 4 of a kind hands weren’t hitting. While I was playing guy sat at the machine next to me and filled out his stack of drawing tickets. He asked how it was going and I told him terrible. He popped a $20 in his machine and on the second hand hits a wild royal. I hate when that happens!

A few minutes later I had a 5 of a kind followed by a dirty royal and in the next 10 hands I hit 3 more bringing me ahead by a few bucks for this session. I continued playing for a while and then heard a large cheer from the craps table. I looked up to see what the commotion was and heard the ring on my machine that I was dealt a winner. I looked down and saw 4 deuces on the screen! I cashed out leaving the ducks on the screen with a $263 win.

It was now about 8:30 and I had to go down to the Riviera to meet Gary and CC. We were going to the comedy club to see Jackie “The Jokeman” Martling, formerly from the Howard Stern Show. Jackie is one funny guy. The guy that opened for him wasn’t too bad but the MC pretty much sucked. These tickets were comped through CC and Gary’s play at the Riviera. We had seats right up near the stage even though it’s not a big room and most seats would be good.

After the show we played a bit at the Riviera before leaving to come up here to the Fiesta. Gary and CC play nickels so I decided I’d play with them too. We were playing double double bonus. We didn’t do well on the first machines so moved to the other side of the bank. CC went to play Texas Tea. A few minutes later Gary says look at this. He was dealt a flush with 4 to a royal. He dumped the odd card and pulled the 5th card for the royal flush for a $200 win. I finally hit a quad on my machine to stay in the game. Gary moved to a new machine and then pulled 4 aces for yet another 800 coins. My next big hand was being dealt 4 cards to a straight flush with both ends open. This is a long shot but I pulled the 5th card. This is a tough hand to hit and pays well. I only hit one more quad during this session and being that this is a short pay game and highly volatile I lost the $10 I started with. It was now near 3am considering the time change. (Clocks moved ahead 1 hour tonight. Can you believe I lost an hour of my Vegas Vacation?)

I was hungry again and grabbed the late night steak and eggs special in the coffee shop. It’s an 8oz steak with 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast for 4 bucks. The steak wasn’t that great but for the price it was still a good deal.

After eating I headed up to bed and finally got to sleep around 5am. It was a long day and bed was looking really good at this point!

Total win/loss for the day $250
Total comps for the day $73
Total out of pocket expenses $4
