Saturday April 6, 2002

After I got up and got motivated I headed out to do some chip collecting. Today’s plan was to hit a bunch of the off strip places like Arizona Charlie’s, Santa Fe Station, Railroad Pass and others that are way out there. At most of these places I played a little bit of low limit craps. At some places I had small wins and others were small losses. For the most part things were about even doing this. The best place I played at was the California downtown. The shooter here was great. He was hitting numbers one after another. I actually had the board covered with come bets and odds. It was great actually getting paid on every roll of the dice. Eventually when he sevened out I was up over $300. I played a bit more cashing out with a $200 profit from the Cal.

I got back to the Stardust around 7pm and was hungry. I had 4 $25 vouchers for food here. All of the restaurants in here were packed. The shortest wait was at Tony Roma’s so I put my name on the waiting list. There was going to be a 45-minute wait. Normally I would have just said screw it but these vouchers are use ‘em or lose ‘em and if you don’t use the full $25 it’s tough shit.

While I waited I played some blackjack for lower stakes than I usually do. Things were up and down and I was pretty much even for the most part. That was until the deck from hell showed up. The dealer had 2 blackjacks, 3 21’s and 2 20’s and was wiping everyone out by 1 point. I left the game down $75 and went back over to the restaurant.

I was planning on ordering the most expensive steak on the menu in order to get the maximum value of the comp. That didn’t seem to make much sense though since I was eating in a restaurant with the motto “A place for ribs”. I ordered the rack and it comes with 2 sides. The ribs were great and I was glad I got them. It’s a lot of food to eat though and I actually ate the whole meal. I guess I should stop wondering why I’m getting to be so fat!

After dinner I made my rounds up to the north end of the strip stopping at Westward Ho, Circus-Circus, Slots-a-Fun, The Riviera and back up to the dust. It was still early so I started walking up towards center strip. I went up as far as The Mirage and Harrah*s and worked my way back to the Stardust. Along the way I was also able to pick up a few silver strikes to along with the chips.

It was getting pretty late now so I decided to get to bed. I have plans to get up early tomorrow and continue going all over town to gather chips and playing a little on my last day in town!

Total win/loss for the day $150
Total comps for the day $182
