Day 14 Monday April 7, 2003

The time change and the late night caught up to me and I got up way later than I had planned. Today is 5X points here at the Fiesta so the plan is to play hard here today and rack up some points.

I found an open machine on the 10-coin deuces wild bank and jumped on it before someone else go there first. I popped in $100 and the machine was terribly streaky. I was almost down to nothing and had a few nice hits. I hit 2 wild royals and a 5 of a kind in about 10 hands of each other. This got me back in the game and I held about even for quite a while. Then out of no where I held one single deuce and drew the other 3 for the $500 jackpot. I continued to play until the original $100 was gone. I got over 3 hours of play on this machine and won $400.

My next move was to play some of the multi strike video poker. I tried this last week at Boulder Station and had no luck but I tried again today. Things were a little better than they were last week but this is still one streaky game. I was getting to the top hand quite often but couldn’t hit anything substantial. I ended up quitting with a $100 win after hitting a few decent hands on the 4X line.

Next, I went over to the craps table next and bought in. While I was playing I saw there was an older couple a few places down from me. They looked familiar but I couldn’t place them. After seeing how they bet I remembered. You may remember from my last report I mentioned these people. They are known as Mr. and Mrs. C. Mrs. C is the one that bets $2 on the line and takes $1 in odds. Mr. C was the little old guy that likes to bet the big 6 and big 8 and had really bad B.O. It was so bad that night I had to leave the table. Well I’m happy to report they still bet the same way AND Mr. C. still has B.O. Luckily he was far enough away from me that I didn’t get too much of it. This table was up and down but a few good shooters including myself got me an hour of action and another $200 win. Things are looking up today and the smaller wins are adding up. It was dinner time now so off to the coffee shop I went.

The place was crowded tonight but there is almost always counter seating available. I ordered the ½ rack of ribs special tonight. It’s a half rack of ribs, fries, a corn muffin and coleslaw for $4.99. It’s plenty to eat and a really good deal.

While I was eating a guy sat 2 stools down from me and said oh good. They still have the rib special. I nodded my head but didn’t pay him much mind. Then he started talking to me. His voice sounded familiar and then he said he remembered me from another time. I looked over and recognized him but didn’t know where from. Then after a few minutes I remembered. It was the same guy that sat near me in December while I was at the Hard Rock eating. I’m not sure if I had mentioned this guy in my last report but all he did was talk to me the whole time about stuff I couldn’t have care less about. Things like how he’s a lawyer and a performer and politics and anything else to bore me to sleep. I tried to ignore him and he still talked. After he started talking tonight I told him I saw him at the Hard Rock back on my last trip and then he proceeded to tell me where I was from and how often I visit. Then he started rambling about the same crap this time. I couldn’t eat fast enough to get the hell out of there without getting bored to sleep by this guy. I know he was trying to be friendly but this guy was annoying telling me all of this stuff. I finally got away from him and went up to the room for a while hoping he would eat and leave and I wouldn’t encounter him in the casino.

After the short break I went back to the casino and was able to get onto the 10-coin deuces again. This didn’t work out as I went about 20 hands straight with no wins. There was no coming back from this and I dropped $100 in short order. I moved to another machine and the same thing happened. I got less than 30 minutes of action out of $200 and quit playing these.

I went back to the craps table and saw there was a guy at the other end betting the dark side taking full odds. He was doing quite well until I got the dice! I made 3 straight points back to back with no numbers in between. I took great pleasure in taking about $500 out of this guy’s rack and he ran off. I continued with a good roll and cashed out with a $200 win.

It was now getting late and I went upstairs to call it a night and get rested before my final day tomorrow.

Total win/loss for the day $600
Total comps for the day $7
Total out of pocket expenses $2
