Day 2
Friday May 13, 2005

Meets:
Met up with Carol in WI and Jeff at the Luxor for a quick mini meet. The Luxor is their home away from home while they are in Vegas. This worked out well for a meet because I’m going to see Blue Man Group tonight. That is until they move here soon! After a nice meet it was time to head to the show.

Entertainment:

Went to see Blue Man Group tonight at the Luxor. I’ve always liked these guys after seeing them on TV a few times. I’ve wanted to see them for a long time but always put it off. I’ve got enough comps on my One Card and since they are leaving Luxor soon, I figured this would be my last chance to see them. I met my friend Anne at the Luxor and picked up my tickets. The tickets were in the center section 7 rows back from the stage dead center. I couldn’t have asked for better seats. I enjoyed the show and I’m glad I finally got to see it. Although I liked the show I’m glad the tickets were comped because I don’t think they were worth $104.50 each.

Dining:
For lunch it was a quick and easy hot dog and soda over at the Cal Snack Bar.

Dinner actually ended up being very late at night in the Triple 7 Brewpub. I sat at the bar where bartender Joe took good care of me. I went with honey BBQ chicken wings.

Gaming:
I started the morning off with some 9/6 Jacks or Better at the slant tops by the bar at MSS. Played a while but only pulled one quad. I was actually doing pretty well but then suddenly it was like someone flipped a switch and I lost the entire $100. I took a walk up Fremont Street after this loss just for a break.

On my way back to MSS Yahtzee Mike called me and I met up with him back over at MSS. When I walked in Mike was talking to Dori, Mel and Marie (dorifrankel from LVA). Then we bumped into Paison from the VPFree board and talked for a while. I took a shot with some 10-coin DDB with a progressive royal flush. I did pretty good here hitting 2 regular quads and a straight flush pushing the meter up to over 1300 coins. I played a bit more but the machine got cold and I cashed out at 1000 coins for a $150 win. I took a short break after this.

After my break I found Mike still at the same bank of machines. I took a shot with some of these short pay carnival games with really top-heavy pay tables with huge bonuses on the quads. I had absolutely no luck here and dropped $150 in no time at all.

My next move was to start heading up to the Hard Rock but on my way out of Maim Street Station I walked past a bank of progressive $1 DDB machines. I took a shot with an $88 TITO I had hoping to pop a quick quad. I got lucky here hit a few full houses and quad jacks for a nice win of $270.

From there it was on to the Hard Rock to use Friday’s free bet coupon. I placed it on the line at a busy table and the shooter set a point of 5. I tried to take $200 in odds but I was refused that chance. I told the box I took odds yesterday so he checked with the pit boss and he said no. I was a little aggravated but it turned out to save me $200 because the shooter sevened out.

When I got to Luxor I met up with Carol and Jeff from WI at the bar near the Blue Man Theater and played some awfully short pay VP. I dropped $100 here and only got about $250 in action. Carol was doing much better though and hot a few quads while I was there.

After Blue Man Group I went back to MSS the whole gang met up. We played some VP over on the slant tops. I chose Jacks or Better and was getting killed right away before things leveled off. I eventually dropped the $100 and only hit 1 quad. Meanwhile as most of us are losing Anne pops 3’s with a kicker for $800 on $1 DDB and a few minutes later is dealt quad aces. She didn’t get a kicker but it was still another $800. I say no fair! I decided to take a chance with some $1 action on DDB hoping to hit another quad real quick like I did earlier today. As luck would have it I got quad queens.

After hitting the $1 quad I switched back to quarters and Loose Deuces. I was doing well here and wasn’t getting drained. After quite a while of play I was dealt 3 deuces and drew the 4th for 2500 coins! I finished this session up $650 and headed to the bar.

The bar tops killed me again tonight. I dropped $150 here in no time and didn’t hit any quads. I decided to quit playing for the night and go get something to eat at the Triple 7.

Today I ended up with 10 scratch cards worth $25.

Total win/loss for the day: $500
Total comps for the day: $336
