Day 6
Thursday June 28, 2007

This morning I had to check out of Circus – Circus. I had one night that was at casino rate and I tried to get this comped. After speaking to 2 VIP Services people that refused I asked for my host. She wasn’t in yet so I went over to Slots – A – Fun and played some of their $2 craps out near the sidewalk. I hit one point but other than that the table was cold. I lost $40 here. I went back over to the host office at Circus – Circus and my host comped the final night based on the fact my food charges were so little. Go figure this one out. After running nearly 50 large through the machines over the last few days, I had to fight to get a room night comped. Note to self; don’t take nights a casino rate here anymore. I also cashed in over 8000 points for $200 in cash. Apparently they started using new vouchers for this at the slot club but mine was printed in the host office and the girl at the cage must have thought I was pulling a fast one. After she called all over the place she finally got approval to cash my voucher.

After getting everything packed up, I went downtown to check into Main Street Station where I’ll be for the next 3 nights. I’m staying on the Let the Summer Begin promo. This offer is good for up to 4 nights (I’m using 3), Triple Points, $100 in free play, and a food coupon book for meals at their restaurants.

Checking in here is always very easy and today was no exception. In just 2 minutes I was on my way to room 1023. It’s closer to the railroad tracks then I normally like to be but at least it’s not on the freeway side of the hotel. The rooms here are all pretty much the same. My room has a king bed, nightstands, sitting area, work desk, Dresser/TV cabinet and a view of downtown and the Strip. The bathrooms are split into two rooms. One with the sink and the other with the toilet and tub, complete with a shower head designed for midgets.

After I looked over the room I stopped at the slot club to activate my free play and triple points. I also spoke with Host Brenda about the downgrade of my food offers. I had gone from silver card, to food vouchers which was fine. But this trip I’m now at a food coupon book, also known as the Hawaiian Package. This was unacceptable to me and really limits the dining options. Brenda looked up my play and said she’d get back to me in a little while about getting my silver card back.

I got my stuff up to the room and got situated and then hit the casino. My game of choice today was 8/5 bonus triple play. I played for a while using the $100 free play they gave me. I hit aces and a few other quads getting up to $150. I took a break from VP and it the craps table. The game was choppy here and after about an hour I lost $700. Losing seems to be the theme the last 2 days.

A quick stop at the slot booth to see Brenda and she had gotten the ok to upgrade me back to a silver card. This was good news because those Hawaiian coupons really sucked! Now armed with my silver card I hit the Market Street Café for lunch. One thing I noticed right away was the brand new menu that had new and improved prices on them. Everything has gone up quite a bit but the prices are still more than fair. I had a bowl of cream of chicken soup and a hot open turkey sandwich (one of my favorite items on their menu). The food and service were good today like they usually are.

After lunch I went back to the triple plays and hit a straight flush and got dealt aces among other quads. Unfortunately those were the only 2 hands that really helped me. I wasn’t hitting or getting dealt much of anything else. I cashed out again at $150 and hit the BJ tables. I should have known better but I still tried. Lots of dealer 20’s and 21’s and those usually happened when I had the most money on the table or doubled down. I dropped another $600 here wondering what the hell is going on! I went back to the triple play machines still armed with my $150 ticket (still going with the free play). This session wasn’t as good as the others. The only real highlight was hitting quad deuces within 5 hands of each other. Quads and dealt winners were scarce and after playing the machines on my free play all day I finally lost it all. Between all the play I got 9 quads and a straight flush and a scratch card for each. Two were for $5, one for $3, and the rest were all $2 for a total of $27.

I went up to the strip to meet with Yahtzee Mike to go see Vinny Favorito. We saw him last year and we liked his show. I got 2 comped tickets for being diamond at the HET properties and one of the perks is getting 2 free show tickets per month. Vinny works the crowd in his show and no one is exempt. He picked on everyone including me and Mike. He pretty much hammered me for a few minutes, then even came back to me a time or to. It was a fun show over all. Just one note to anyone that might want to go see him. Tickets for his show are normally $40 and this show is NOT worth $40. Quite honestly it’s not even a great deal if you have a 2 for 1 coupon.

When the show was over we went over to Harrah’s and watched the dueling piano show for a while. This is usually a decent show to watch and these people sure can play. From here we walked the strip and hug out at the Flamingo sports book for a while.

I came back downtown at about 1am. I hadn’t eaten all day so hit the bar at the Triple 7 for a quick appetizer of mozzarella sticks. They give a huge serving of like 10 sticks and it’s way too much for 1 person to eat.

After I ate I hit the triple plays one more time for the day. I just couldn’t hit much of anything. I managed to pull quad aces so I cashed out the session even. All in all I’d say VP was pretty good to me today. Too bad the tables killed me.

Total win/loss for the day -$1100
Total comps for the day $474
