Day 2
Sunday June 29, 2008

Well it sure was nice to wake up in Las Vegas after not being here for 6 months. Oddly we woke up at 6am after not going to bed until 3am!

After we got up and got motivated we hit the Market Street Café for breakfast. I had bacon and eggs with rice (they offer rice instead of breakfast potatoes) as a change of pace. Dee had pancakes and eggs. Everything was good except for the server not understanding exactly what Dee wanted. She was asking for blueberry pancakes and the lady kept saying bacon? Bacon? You want bacon? Even though we repeatedly said no, she wants blueberry pancakes.

When we were done with breakfast I activated my 3X points and set out to use my $100 in free play. I settled in at ten play machines with 8/5 bonus for quarters. I lost the $100 in free play in no time and started feeding bills in to the machine. Things were streaky and I was up and down. After feeding a 3rd bill into the machine the quads started coming and I even drew an inside straight flush. I cashed out the session only down $100 and had 9 scratch cards. They were all 2 bucks except for one that was three for $19.

After video poker and hanging out for a while it was time for Yahtzee Mike’s Annual Crapsfest. This is the first time ever that we’re having this event downtown at Main Street Station. We spotted Mike and Dana right away and they were already started playing. It’s good to see them again since I haven’t see them since the last trip and that was just for a few hours for dinner on Christmas. There was a decent turn out and we played craps for about an hour. The game was good at first then it got choppy and then it got bad. Of course nothing can ever be as bad as the event we held a few years ago at Fiesta Henderson where we all got our asses kicked. I finished down a little over $200.

When Crapsfest was over me and Dee went across town to Silverton. On the way there we made a quick stop at Target to get a few survival items for the week. The main purpose of this trip was to check in on a mail offer that gives 2 nights and $250 in free play. This is a great offer and while we don’t need the room, you just can’t pass up $250 in free play. This is also Dee’s first trip to Silverton and she was looking forward to seeing a place I had talked about so many times.

When we got to Silverton check in was quick and easy as it usually is and in no time we were off to room 4039. The rooms here are pretty nice and our room has 2 queen beds, a night stand, work desk, sitting chair, wall unit and overpriced mini bar. The bathroom is small and basic.

Once we checked out the room it was time to eat lunch. We went to the Sundance Grill. I’ve always had good food here and I went with my favorite thing off the menu, the Prime Rib Sandwich. Dee had a giant Cobb Salad and we split an order of spring rolls. Everything was great and we were stuffed when we left.

After lunch we stopped off at the slot club booth to sign Dee up for a card. She has a coupon for $10 in free play for new members from the American Casino Guide (ACG) and I activated my free play but the lady said it was already on there.

Next up was a stroll through the Bass Pro Shops to look for a gift for Dee’s boss. This place has everything for the sportsman but she didn’t see anything she liked for him so we went back to the casino.

I decided on my favorite VP game here which is ten play VP. I don’t play 10 plays for quarters very often but this game is fun, although pricey. When I activated my free play it shoed $300 instead of$250. This made no sense to me but I’m not complaining. The only thing I could thing of is it was combining the free play from this offer with the free play of another offer I had but didn’t book. Things on this machine were better than this morning and the game here is 9/6 jacks or better. With that in mind I won’t tell you what my first quad was. Things started going up and down and I was eventually down to just $100 left of my free play. I was going to cash out at $100 just so I could walk away with something. On my last hand the machine deals me quad sixes for 1250 coins and I was back. I played a little longer and cashed out with the original $300 they gave me in free play after cycling over 6k through the machine. Not a bad deal for a free play offer.

After the Silverton it was off to North Las Vegas to the Cannery to hit their Sunday promotion. Dee has never been here either so the first stop was the slot club booth to get her a card. She had a coupon from the ACG good for a free hat or t-shirt for joining the club and it turned out to be a t-shirt because they were out of hats and she also got a deck of cards.

The main purpose today was to play video poker and max out on the promo for the day and then max out on Dee’s card. I hit the 8/5 bonus triple/five plays. I took a shot at playing dollar five play to take a shot and to try and max out the promo as quickly as possible. Things started out decent with some full houses and flushes but then went bad. Cash disappears quickly at $25 a hand. I dropped $400 and made the switch back to quarters. I was doing much better at quarters but not getting the amount of dealt winners I needed to keep alive. I did manage to get dealt quad 10’s to give me a boost but the machine got tight again after that. I had maxed out on the promo on my card so I switched to playing on Dee’s and got half way to maxing out before I quit to preserve bankroll and because we were both getting tired. Shortly after I switched to her card I was dealt quad 8’s but it was too late. I dropped around $500 for the session. This is certainly not the way promos are supposed to work but hell, I’m going to play somewhere so why not play on a good promo. We hit the slot club booth and got $90 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards for our points.

We were also armed with some $10 match play coupons from the ACG and POV and played a few of those. E both decided that we would pool our money for all coupon runs and match plays this trip and then split whatever we had at the end of the trip. Dee played red on roulette and black came up. I did the same thing on the next spin and black came up again. Not only did we get killed at VP we were 0 for 2 on match plays.

When we were finished at the Cannery it was time to head back downtown to Main Street Station. When we got back we had a late dinner at the Triple 7 Brewpub. Service was awful in here tonight and we waited for close to 20 minutes before our order was even taken. I went with my favorite filet mignon sandwich and Dee had Santa Fe Chicken. The food was very good as it usually is here.

After dinner it was getting late so we decided not to play anymore and went to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$500
Total comps for the day $717
