Day 3
Monday June 30, 2008

We woke up pretty early again today but got up even though we were both a little tired. For a little exercise we took a long walk downtown through Fremont Street. It’s very tranquil down here at the hour of 6am. I’m not much of an exercise person but Dee likes to walk and run so I joined her and I actually liked getting out and about that early. Shit, many times on my Vegas trips I’m just going to bed at this hour!

During our walk we stopped off at the Fremont to play the giant Wheel of Fortune machine. We had it all to our selves. I kind of wish we hadn’t played it though. We weren’t hitting anything decent. We finally hit a bonus round to spin the wheel and go the 3rd lowest amount on the thing for 400 coins. We had bigger hits during the regular game. From here it was back to Main Street Station to get cleaned up to start our day.

We started off getting something to eat at The Paradise Café over at the Fremont. I went with country fried steak and eggs. I didn’t really care for the steak so most of it went to waste. Dee had sausage and eggs. The service today was good and the waitress was very friendly.

When we were done eating we shopped a little so Dee could get some items for her nieces and nephew and then it was back on to Main Street Station. I was hoping to see Brian at the Boar Bar but he wasn’t there. When we got to the room the plan was to pack up our stuff but we chose to go back to bed for an hour or so to get caught up on sleep. Well that hour turned into 3! It’s now going on towards 2pm and we’ve now packed up and are heading to the casino for one more session of play here at Main Street Station.

After we ate I hit my triple/five plays for a while before we left. This session was pretty good to start. I was getting lots of dealt winners and hit a few quads. Other than my initial wager I was playing on winnings the whole session. There were some ups and downs along the way and then a bunch of downs. I quit the session even and had 6 scratch cards. Four were for $2, and one each for $3 & $5.

While I was playing I got a call from Yahtzee Mike. He said he and Dana scored tickets to Legends in Concert at Imperial Palace with the 2 free tickets per month for being a diamond card holder. We had originally planned to do this but saw on the Harrah’s website that it wasn’t available anymore. We decided that we’d do this tonight and it’s pretty convenient to Planet Hollywood.

When we were done playing I took Dee to the men’s room so she could see the Berlin Wall and snap a few pictures. She thought this was pretty neat.

Next up was a light lunch at the Triple 7. We both just had a bowl of chicken noodle soup. The soup was tasty but a little too thick for chicken noodle soup. It still hit the spot though.

When we were done eating we went up to the room and packed up the rest of the stuff we took out of our luggage. While we’re not checking out officially until tomorrow, we are leaving this room empty tonight. I loaded up the car and it was off to Planet Hollywood. I had originally planned on hitting a few promos but it was getting late so we decided the $10 in EV could be passed up in an effort to save time.

We left the Main Street Station and headed up the Strip to Planet Hollywood where we’d be checking in for the next 2 nights. The original plan was to be staying at Main Street Station for the first 4 nights of this trip but an offer about a week before this trip offering a suite for 2 nights, $100 food, free Spa admission and $250 in cash made this offer too hard to pass up. I was expecting the food to be able to be charged to the room and come off a balance but instead it came on the form of two $50 vouchers. When we arrived we used the valet parking area. While the valet here kind of sucks anything is better than parking in the self park garage here and walking 136 miles to the casino. For some reason the valet was jammed and it took 10 minutes to park. Then we were so far back we had to walk 2 miles anyway.

After checking the bags with the bellman it was off to VIP registration to check in. Things were quick here but the guy at the desk said they had me checking in at regular registration but as a courtesy he’d take care of me. I thought it was odd since I had always checked in at VIP. In a few minutes we were off to room 1032 in the south tower. While I don’t consider these rooms to be suites, they do. Really they are just oversized rooms. This is a king room with nightstands on each side of the bed, a work desk, couch & coffee table, and wall unit. There is a small room when you walk in but other than overpriced bottled water and an ice bucket there’s nothing in this room. The bathroom is large with his and hers vanities, soaker tub, large tile shower, and toilet room. We have a view of the pool area and when the Bellagio fountains go off you can see the tops of them.

Oh yes, for those of you that might be keeping score, we’re registered to 3 hotels right now. I’ve been called a pig before on Las Vegas Talk/Open Vegas by certain people for doing this but you know what? That’s just too effing bad and you can call me whatever you want. You’re just jealous that you don’t get as many lucrative offers that I get. Besides, if the hotels didn’t make me check in to get the perks, I wouldn’t. They still get plenty of action out of me so it’s their fault the room is booked but not being used when they could have sold it to another guest.

Once we got settled into the room we headed out towards Imperial Palace so I could get the show tickets. When we got there, there was no line at Total Rewards and in just a few minutes I had a voucher for the box office. My luck had me first in line but the guy at the counter was a total nimrod and didn’t understand a thing the girl was telling him. After nearly 15 minutes I finally got up there and got my tickets. We got booth seating at table 202. I also asked how much these tickets usually go for and was told they are $63.80 and include 1 drink.

Since we had some time before the show we walked over to Harrah’s to see if Carol in Wisconsin (now Carol in Las Vegas) was working. She was and we got to chat with her for a few minutes. Her and Dee never met but “knew” each other from the Las Vegas Talk message boards so it fun for them to finally meet.

After a nice little mini meet we went back to the Imperial Palace to line up for the show. We were second in the diamond line so were seated right away. They told us more people may be seated with us. We were hoping not but a little while later a couple from Alabama sat down with us. We talked to them for a while and then Yahtzee Mike and Dana arrived. We talked to them for a bit. They had come from Wynn and did well on the sign up bonus promo there. They had the same seats as us but on the opposite side of the room. The folks from Alabama offered to switch seats with Mike and Dana so we could all sit together. We took them up on that and it was very nice of them to do so.

The show opens up with Jay Leno doing a monologue followed by Tina Turner, The Blues Brothers, Dusty Springfield and Elvis as well as some back up singers and dancers. I thought the show was decent but to charge $64 a ticket for this show is absurd. Then they take your picture while you’re in there and hawk those after the show on top of it. Seriously though, don’t pay more then ½ price for this show and even that is a stretch.

When the show was over we headed back towards Planet Hollywood. Mike and Dana were parked at Bill’s so we went there together. Dee had never been here, even when it was the Barbary Coast so it was another new stop for her. We hung out here chatting for a while and then went our own ways.

Even though it was now midnight me and Dee hadn’t had dinner yet. For dinner we went to Planet Dailies. We had a $50 coupon so went to town. We started with a potato skin appetizer. I had the chicken parmesan with spaghetti and it was really good. Dee had macaroni and cheese. This was some of the tastiest macaroni and cheese I’ve ever had. The only problem is they give you enough for 4 people. We topped off the meal with a giant slice of chocolate cake that we would save for breakfast. Service tonight was very good from Nick the server. If all servers were as good and attentive as he was people wouldn’t be able to complain about service.

I decided not to play at Planet Hollywood tonight, and actually decided not to play at all. While I like the place it doesn’t feel like home to me. I know they probably won’t be sending many more offers after this but I’m good with that. I’ll take them up on their deals until they dry up.

After 2am we finally called it a night as it had been a pretty long day.

Total win/loss for the day -$50
Total comps for the day $580
