Day 6
Thursday July 2, 2009

Today we slept in and got some extra rest that we’ve been depriving ourselves of. After we got ready it was off to Aquarius. They were offering a new sign up bonus with up to $225 in gifts. Dee never had a card here so we got her signed up and then hit the VP machines. We found some triple play machines with 8/5 bonus and started to pound away. I bankrolled this play as I was hoping to max out this promo as well as make the Aquarius our new home now that Harrah’s has effed things up by killing their VP. The machines were streaky this morning. For a while we’d both be up quite a bit then we’d hit a drought and then be down. Dee got beat a little worse than I did dropping $200 while I dropped $100.

We moved to a different bank of machines and played a bit more. Things were much better here and we were hitting quads more frequently and were getting more dealt winners. We got quite a bit of play this session and cashed out with a small win and only being down $200 for the day. We had also maxed out on the promo for Dee and she got $180 in free play, $100 of which isn’t good for 7 days from today but will be good for 6 months. She also got a t-shirt, lunch buffet and dinner buffet.

Speaking of the lunch buffet we went and had that when we left the slot club. The food here is quite a bit better than when this place was the Flamingo although it’s still basic. There’s enough selection to fill you up but I wouldn’t rate it high. I guess I can use my old quote, I’ve had better but I’ve had much worse.

After lunch we went shopping over in Arizona where I was lucky enough score a new shirt for a mere 20 cents! We also picked up some more supplies for the week at Big Lots.

When we got back to Harrah’s we had a short nap and then went to the diamond lounge again for afternoon snacks. The food is always the same here except the soup changes each day. Today was vegetable beef.

After we ate we went back down to Aquarius. We started off with a few penny slots. I cashed out with a 40 cent profit and wanted to party but that wasn’t happening. Next we played more video poker. Dee used here free play and held her own for a while before it disappeared. She popped in a $20 bill and cashed out at $165 but then we kept playing and she dropped about $60. I was holding steady at +/- $25 for the whole session and then suddenly the machine clammed up and I was going 6-10 hands in a row without a win. I dropped $100 here.

We had cycled enough coin through the machines here for the day and then took a walk over to Riverside. This place was a zoo so we bolted back to Aquarius to get the car. We went up to Golden Nugget to see if they had any low limit BJ but this place was jammed too. A walk over to Pioneer produced the same results and we drove over to the Tropicana. They had a few tables available but the limits were a bit high so we decided to call it a night and head back to Harrah’s.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $143
