Day 9
Sunday July 5, 2009

Well today was once again moving day. We got the rest of our thing packed up and called for the car as it was time to make the 90 mile drive back to Las Vegas.

This place was a zoo this morning. Actually, the whole weekend was chaotic. There were 5-20 minute waits for the elevator. I called down to have the bellman get our bags and I was told there would be over 25 minutes to wait. I told the lady on the phone that was unacceptable and I would carry my own bags down. As I was mid sentence about to tell her that’s no way to treat a diamond guest, I was hung up on.

I called ahead to valet to have the car ready and we lugged our own stuff to the car. I stopped at the diamond check out and made a complaint about the long waits for elevators this trip, being placed in the wrong tower and the bell services mess and told the front desk manager that Harrah’s probably lost a player because of this.

The ride back to Las Vegas was a bit busy but no traffic hang ups. We stopped in Searchlight for a snack at Terrible’s but the place was jammed so we went next door to Rebel. Dee got a coffee and I got a cheddar hot dog and a Chocodile. I haven’t had one of those in years. Dee was totally disgusted by the cheddar infused hot dog. I found it quite tasty! Before I knew it we were in Henderson dropping off our laundry for some fluff and fold service and then it was back on the road towards downtown.

We arrived at Main Street Station to check in. This will be our home for the rest of the trip. I booked this through a host here at Main Street Station on a mail offer called the Summer Grand Slam Adventure. The offer was for 4 nights, $75 free play and a food coupon book. The reason I booked through a host was to add an additional night and request a silver card. I was offered the 5th night at casino rate of $32. I was initially denied the silver card and told my play has fallen off but she’d put in a request and I could call back a few days later to see what happened. I did just that and she hadn’t heard anything yet. She said she’d check and call me back before she went home that night. I’m still waiting for that phone call.

Check in here is always fast and easy but today there was a snag. There was no record of my reservation in the system. I was NOT happy about this. The girl at check in sent me over to see a host so I spoke to Gloria about this mess and she handled it. In just a few minutes we were off to room 1401. This is a king room with 2 nightstands, a work desk, armoire & sitting table. The bathroom is small and split into 2 rooms, one with the sink and the other with the tub & toilet. We also have a view of downtown and the strip right up Main Street.

We dropped the bags in the room and headed out to the Cannery. The plan here was to play some video poker and meet with Rhonda from Open Vegas. We started with triple play VP and I was feeding in bill after bill. When Rhonda arrived Dee went to see her and I played a bit more. I switched to five-play and got a dealt full house and cashed out and joined the mini meet. We chatted for a while and then went back to VP. I was doing ok and then I got dealt 4 to a royal in hearts. I pulled the 5th card on line 5 for a $1000 hit. We cashed out shortly after that and once again walked away from the Cannery with money! We also cashed in some points for gift cards and did their swipe and win promo. I got some drawing entries and Dee won a Cannery T-Shirt.

We headed back to Main Street Station and since we were hungry we hit the coffee shop at the Cal. We had these Hawaiian books with meal tickets in them and you get to have the daily special for free with them. We both chose the meatloaf and in like 2 minutes it was being brought out. It was two thick slabs of meatloaf, choice of starch and spinach. I went with rice and Dee had fries. The meal also comes with a drink. The meatloaf was quite tasty and I’d get it again in the future.

After dinner we came up here to unpack for the last time and then we hit the casino. We sat at my favorite bank of triple plays and pounded away. This session was streaky to say the least. I was up and down and all over the place. This was NOT a good session even though we played for over 3 ½ hours. I hit aces 3 different times and still dropped 3 bills. Dee was a bit luckier although she was all over the place too. She got 2 dealt quads and finished even. I got 15 scratch cards all for $2 each. Wow, have things changed in this promotion over the years!

We stopped by the Boar Bar after playing to see Bob for a few minutes and then it was off to bed around midnight.

Total win/loss for the day $400
Total comps for the day $150
