Day 9
Sunday July 6, 2008

Today we started off by getting up early and getting the room cleaned up a bit and just relaxing. Dee was cleaning up a bit because Anne and Steve are coming up for a light afternoon lunch. Originally this was supposed to be in our suite but since we got screwed, it’ll just have to be in our room. While she was doing that I was writing this report and that’s where we are in the trip right now.

Once things were in order we hit the pool for a little while. Like yesterday it was just a short session to avoid baking ourselves.

After pool time we got ready to head out and do some things. Thos included going shopping for some lunch items, picking up laundry and a stop at Ethel M’s to see the Cactus Garden. Dee had been here at night when the Christmas lights were up but had never seen it in the daylight. The factory was closed today so we couldn’t see them make the candy but we were able to see the facility.

Since lunch was going to be later in the afternoon today I swung by Jack in the Box for a quick 2 taco snack. Dee never had Jack in the Box and wasn’t too keen on having a deep fried taco but after a few bites I had her hooked. She was impressed that they were only 99 cents for 2!

From here it was on to the Laundromat to pick up our clothes then off to Wal-Mart to get lunch items for later on. We of course used the Wal-Mart gift cards we got at the Cannery last Sunday!

When we got to the room housekeeping hadn’t cleaned yet and it was now 1pm. Dee started freaking out that we’d never get things done in time for Steve and Anne to get here at 2pm. I of course was calm and cool and started cleaning the room up and, imagine this, made the bed. Then I tracked down a maid and got some new towels and supplies and I have to say, I did as good a job as they do!

Dee likes to entertain in this way so it gave her an opportunity to do something she really enjoys and everything fell into place and we had everything done with 15 minutes to spare before Anne and Steve arrived!

Dee bought a nice selection of foods including turkey, a few cheeses, pickles, olives, grapes, carrots & celery, crackers, cake and selection of beverages. Everything looked and tasted great and she did a really nice job setting it all up. Thanks Dee.

Anne and Steve hung out for a few hours before leaving. After they left the 2 of us needed to catch a short nap or an hour before heading out again. Well, that short nap turned into over 3 hours! I guess we were a little more tired than we had thought.

When we finally got up and motivated we went over to the Cannery to play on their promo. The first thing Dee when we got here was played a match play on roulette. She lost this one putting us at 5 for 14 on match plays.

From there it was on to video poker. I chose my 8/5 bonus five plays. Things were choppy on this machine tonight. I wasn’t getting anything dealt but I was pulling lots of quads including aces twice. A lack of dealt winners was really tough though. I was close to maxing out the promo on my card but had lost my $200 buy in despite all the quads and aces twice. I switched to $1 triple play to get some quick coin in and to take a shot at the royal. I hit aces one more time for $400 but again the dealt winners weren’t happening. After I maxed out on my card I switched to Dee’s. Things remained choppy for me but I was able to max out on her card too. I finished the session up a whopping $20. I was ok with this considering I had nothing dealt to me better than a straight and that only happened 3 times. The only thing that sucked about this was I had hit aces 3 times, once for dollars. I had also maxed out the promo on both of our cards and we walked out with $120 in Wal-Mart gift cards. I also cashed out my remaining points and got $100 cash back.

On the way out the door we both played another match play Dee lost hers again but I hit mine on black. This broke us even for the night on match plays and we were now 6 for 16. We really are not doing well on these match plays at this point.

When we left Cannery we went over to Texas Station. Dee had been past here before but never inside. The main goal here was to burn some match plays and to throw a few points onto a buddy’s card to keep it active. I played a Gold Fish penny slot. I hit a few bonus rounds although I did really bad on 2 of them actually getting less on them than I had originally wagered. I cashed out down just 15 cents though.

Next up was math plays. These coupons were only good at blackjack so we got on a double game. I was dealt a 17, Dee was dealt 13. Dealer had a 4 showing and flipped over an 8 for a 12. I wasn’t liking this since 12’s are strong dealer hands. He pulled an ace followed by a 10 for a dealer break and a nice $40 win between us. This put us at 8 or 18 on match plays.

We hadn’t eaten now for over 8 hours so I took Dee over to Fiesta Rancho. She has never been in here before either and was surprised it was so much different then the Henderson property. I explained it was because they were built by 2 different companies and then Stations took them over and re-branded the Henderson property from the Reserve. We hit the Baja Beach Café for a late night meal. Dee went with the Triple Play. This was 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, 3 bacon, 3 sausage, and breakfast potatoes for $4.99. I had a bowl of chicken noodle soup and ordered chicken fingers. The server put in the order and got the chicken finger dinner. This came with fries and veggies and was more expensive. I didn’t mind though since I was going to use points. When we got the bill she hadn’t charged for the soup so it all worked out well.

It was 1:30am now and we were both zonked so I drove us back up to Red Rock and we called it quits for the day.

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total comps for the day $454
