Day 10
Monday July 6, 2009

We were up early this morning and walked over to the Fremont to have breakfast. Our coupon is good for bacon and eggs or the buffet there for $1. We had the buffet since we’re sort of egged out. This is a small buffet but has all the basics plus an omelet station.

After breakfast we came back to Main Street Station and played more triple play video poker. Just as I was sitting down I saw a slot card on top of my machine and it was the same name of someone I traded coupons with. I thought that was really neat and will e-mail him and let him know! I hit aces about 5 hands into the session. Things were streaky after this and just as the aces money was gone I hit a straight flush. I kept going on this for quite a while before busting out and feeding in another bill. I we played a bit longer and I cashed out down $150 for the session which kind of sucks considering I hit aces and a straight flush. Dee was a little luckier and lost about 50 bucks. I got 6 scratch cards all for $2 except for one that was for $3.

We took a break in the room for a while and set up a plan for the rest of the day which was mainly going to be to chill! After we took a break and got rested up we went to lunch over at the Cal. One of their specials today was honey tempura chicken. It came with fries or rice and our coupons covered a drink as well. This was one of the best lunches I’ve ever had. The chicken was tender and drizzled with honey. It also came with peas & pearl onions.

After lunch I tried to connect to the net at Main Street but for some reason couldn’t get on. Instead Dee called home to let everyone know we were doing well. Once all of the calls were made we were off to the Laundromat to pick up our clothes from yesterday.

Now it was time to go up to Center Strip to Treasure Island. Dee has always wanted to see a Cirque show here in Las Vegas and I always thought Mystere looked cool.

We got to TI early to pick up the tickets. There was a huge line but it went quickly. We had plenty of time before the show. We wandered around TI and played a few penny slots. I got killed but Dee won a few bucks. Welcome to the strip!

Dee actually paid for these tickets by saving spare change for the last 6 months (they have $1 & $2 coins in Canada so spare change adds up faster than it does here for us!). We bought these tickets online back in May just before they offered all types of sales and promotions on Cirque tickets. We weren’t too happy about this but what can you do? Our tickets are in section 203 Row LL 14-15. These are in the upper section and centered to the stage with a full view of the entire theater. I don’t want to give away the show but it was fun with all sorts of acrobatics that normal people could never do. These folks have skills that can’t be imagined. Some of the stuff they do just isn’t right!

After the show was over we came back downtown and went to the California for dinner. I had the steak and shrimp special. This is a good meal for 7.95 that comes with a small sirloin steak, 3 breaded deep fried shrimp, vegetable of the day and choice of starch. Our server was a fun guy called Darren and took everyone’s order without writing a thing down. Dee got the soup, ½ sandwich and salad bar. We tried to order dessert and Dee went for carrot cake and the waiter came back and said they were out. She chose vanilla cake and I chose black forest. A few minutes later he came back and said someone just got the last piece of each of those. I guess it was a round about way of telling us not to eat more crap!

We came back over to Main Street Station after we ate and played some video poker. This was quite a streaky session for both of us. I hit five quads and ended up down just $50 for the session. I’m not sure how I was able to hold on because of a lack of quads and dealt winners. One key hand was being dealt three queens and drawing the 4th one on all 3 lines! When I cashed out of the VP machine I played a penny Goldfish game. I had some good luck on here hitting a few bonus rounds and cashed out with a $50 win breaking even for the night.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $114
