Day 11
Monday July 8, 2008

Well today is moving day. It’s going to be tough to pack up and leave this great room here at Red Rock but hey, what can you do? After we got our things together we were on our way.

On the way out of the Summerlin area we stopped off at Rampart to use the $25 match plays in the POV. Dawn bet hers on even at the roulette table and hit. On the next spin I bet on black and won after the ball popped right out of the red slot! This was another $100 win for coupon efforts and we were now 15 for 26 on coupons.

Since we were on the 95 heading back to the Vegas area I thought it would be a good idea to hit the Boulder Highway casinos to use more coupons and show Dee some of those properties. Our first stop was Arizona Charlie’s Boulder to use the $5 match play in the POV. This place really sweats coupons and it would be better to not even have them in the POV. When we got to the table the dealer had to yell to the floor person there was coupon action, then they eyeballed the coupons and then made us sign them. WTF is that all about for a $5 match play coupon? We both ended up busting out our hands against a dealer 8. After the hand she revealed an 18 so no matter what we did, we were dead and now at 15 for 28 on coupons.

Next up was a stop at my former home, Sam’s Town. I wanted Dee to see the atrium and Mystic falls but the falls were down for maintenance. We also had $5 match plays from the POV. We went to a 6-5 single deck game to use these (I’ll only play this game with a coupon and only if I have to). Dee ended up with a 14 and I was dealt a 13 against a dealer 4. She turned over a 12 followed by an ace, followed by a 9 for a dealer break and 2 more winning coupons and brought us to 17 for 30.

From Sam’s Town it was over to Wal-Mart for a few things then to the Longhorn to play the ACG and POV coupons. When we got to the table they wanted us to have a player’s card. I never used a player’s card here and I was a little aggravated that I had to go sign up for one to use a few coupons. I went out to the car to get the 2500 coin bonus coupon for new members. We also got a pack of cookies for being new members.

We finally got to the table to play. First we used our free ace coupons. Dee got a blackjack and I got a double down hand that I won. Next up we played our match plays. Dee lost both of hers and I won one and lost one. All in total we walked out of there with a $25 win and are now 20 for 36 on coupons.

Next up was a quick stop at the bank and then a visit to the Hard Rock to pay back a marker I took last week. I also stopped by to see the crew at the craps table and stopped at the player’s club to see how much in comps I had. I was a little disappointed to know that in the hour of play averaged at $98 per hand I was given a whopping $9 in comps.

Today is the final move of the trip and we’re heading to Caesars Palace. Dee really likes the rooms here and it’s also where we met 4 ½ years ago so it’s also a special place for us. I parked in valet left the luggage with the bellman and we made our way through the giant maze to the diamond check in area which was closed and were sent to 7 Stars instead.

When I got to the check in area I asked Dee if she had any special requests and she asked for a Bellagio view. I had originally booked a premium palace tower room and the clerk said they had me in a forum tower room. I wasn’t thrilled with that so she was able to get us a regular room in the palace tower. I was a little disappointed in that because I really wanted Dee to see the room with the 2 bathrooms and the joint shower.

The room has a short entry way followed by a hallway where the make up table and closets are. The room itself has a king bed with night stands, wall unit with flat panel TV and over priced mini bar items, a work desk with chairs and a small sitting area with one arm chair and end table. The bathroom is larger with a shower stall, jetted tub, twin basin vanity and the toilet is in its own little room.

After we got settled into the room we took a short nap to re-energize before getting ready to go out for the evening because tonight was going to be our drinking night and we figured we’d be up late.

We went over to Harrah’s and visited Carol for a few minutes. We wanted to go to Toby Keith’s for dinner but the place was packed so we went to the Café @ Harrah’s instead. I had a chicken pot pie that was very good but over priced for the size of it. Welcome to the strip. Dee had the roasted chicken dinner with fries. I had a little of that and it was also very good.

While we were eating we played 6 games of Keno to keep busy and have a little fun. I know it’s the worst game in the house but the short term volatility was with us tonight as we hit 5 of 6 for a nice $90 win.

After dinner we wanted to go to the dueling pianos show at Harrah’s but the place was packed and we couldn’t even get close. Instead we thought we’d try the dueling pianos at Paris. Along the way while we walked we stopped in a few casinos and played a few penny slots. For the most part we hovered around even and only hung out long enough to play a bit and indulge in some comped beers!

When we got to Paris we stopped by the table games and I saw my old pal Ned from NJ. Ned used to deal craps at Fiesta Henderson and at the time was one of the best there. He’s been at Paris for a few years now and I always make it a point to stop by and see him. He always remembers me and always asks about Yahtzee Mike too.

After chatting with Ned for a bit (he was dealing the Texas Hold ‘em table game and just killing the guy playing) we went off to the Paris dueling pianos. We decided to skip this one because the average age in the place looked to be about 74 and it didn’t look like a fun place tonight.

We continued our walk back down to Harrah’s but the piano bar was still jammed so we came back to Caesars and played a variety of penny slots and drank more free beer. I think we played for about 2 hours and I only lost $20. Dee wasn’t as lucky but didn’t do too bad. One thing I hate about the penny slots though is hitting bonus rounds and not getting anything or getting less than my initial wager was.

When we were done playing we hit the Augustus Café for a late night meal. Dee had a club and I had a bowl of matzo ball soup. The food was great and hit the spot after a long night.

We finally called it a night around 4am for some much needed sleep.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total comps for the day $308
