Day 12
Wednesday July 8, 2009

Today we started off with breakfast over at the Cal. We sat at the counter for immediate seating. I had the 2’s company which is 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and 2 bacon strips. The service was quick and friendly and our food book coupons covered the bill.

When we were done eating we came back over to Main Street Station and hit the VP machines again for a little while. It didn’t take long for me to drop $200 and run from the machines.

We went over to Silverton next to play and to take advantage of another mailed offer. Like yesterday’s Planet Hollywood offer this one is identical to the June offer I got with 3 nights (I booked 2) $75 free play and $25 in food. Checking in never takes more than a few minutes here and we were given room 3009 and it was identical to the room that we had last week. The view was a little bit better because we had a tree to look at in addition to the wall!

We decided to hit the pool for a while and checked out the newly renovated pool area. Last week the installed some decks and cabanas and put out some new cushioned chairs. Before we got too burned we went back to the room to get cleaned up and then hit the casino. I activated my free play and then Anne swung by real quick on her way to work to say hi. We didn’t get to see her on this trip because of scheduling issues.

Back in the casino Dee played a $5 bill into a penny slot for someone back home. She hit a bonus round and the lucky friend more than doubled up the $5 to $11 and change. Next up I hit a 10 play machine to run my free play through. This disappeared quickly so I few in a few bills to play for a while. Other than my first few bets I didn’t need any more money. I was hitting more than my fair share of quads and dealt winners. I played for quite a while running the meter way up. I played a bit more and cashed out with a $300 win that offset this morning’s losses at Main Street Station.

For dinner we went to the Sundance Grill. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was a couple of chicken fingers on a roll with coleslaw, tomato and provolone cheese. I also got chips. The food was good today and our server was friendly. While we ate Dee played 5 games of Keno but we didn’t hit anything.

Since I hadn’t been to the Pinball Hall Of Fame yet when we left Silverton that’s where we were headed. On the way there we made a quick stop at Anne’s mom’s house to see her and Steve. We visited for about an hour and hit the road.

On the way to Pinball we stopped and got Dee a book to read. She didn’t want to play and stayed out in the car and read while I was inside having lots of fun playing pinball and video games. I played in here for about 2 hours and spent a whopping $4. This place is bankroll preservation at its best and a lot of fun!

On the way back to Main Street Station Dee suggested we stop at the custard stand for a treat so that’s what we did. This place is pretty famous and right near the Stratosphere. The custard is made fresh daily. Dee got what was left of the peanut butter and then topped off raspberry. I got vanilla and we shared some of each. This stuff is really good and very rich so don’t go ordering a giant one unless you plan on being weighed down when you’re done!

When we came back to Main Street Station we hit the casino and played more video poker. I was getting killed not hitting much of anything and the credit meter was dropping like a rock. No dealt winners and no made hands and it was getting painful. That was until I held 3 to a royal and on line 3 for $1000. I kept playing after we celebrated and started hitting quads one after another including aces. After about 2 hours I cashed out with a total win for the session of $920. I took that $20 and played some Goldfish penny slots. I played for a while on it before losing it. Dee didn’t have a great night or day for that matter and pretty much got killed. I felt bad for her but she seemed ok with it.

Total win/loss for the day $1000
Total comps for the day $208
