Day 13
Thursday July 9, 2009

We slept in this morning and then went over to the Cal to use their pool. I’ve never been to their pool before and it’s not much to write about. It is pretty much a hole in the roof on the 13th (yes 13th) floor. We stayed here for about and hour and then came back to the room to get ready for our day.

The day started with lunch at the Cal. I had the pork chop special and Dee had the 2’s company breakfast. My food was really good and a really tasty lunch. Both meals were covered by the food coupon books.

After the Cal we hit Fremont Street so Dee could shop for a few souvenirs for the folks back home. We took our time doing this and we also stopped by the Golden Nugget to check out their new pool area. It’s really cool what they did out there in such a small area.

When we were done shopping we came up to the room and packed some of our stuff since this trip is coming to an end tomorrow. That sucks though so we won’t talk about it anymore until tomorrow!

When we were packed up it was time for some casino action.

Before we went downstairs I divided up our match play money. You may have noticed that the second half of the trip that we didn’t do any coupons. Part of this was due to the heat. It was a bit much running from casino to casino in the heat, and part of it was just because of the casinos sweating $10 match plays and dealers not having a clue as to what they were. We’ll do more coupons on the next trip when the weather is a little cooler. We didn’t do well on the coupons we played so there wasn’t much to divvy up. Actually that’s an understatement. We had exactly $15 in profits! I gave Dee $10 of it plus her original investment back. I took the other $5 and was just thankful we didn’t lose. Planet Hollywood canceling their $25 match plays from the LVA book was a major killer for us this trip.

We hit the triple plays and I tried the 10 coin version. This wasn’t as good idea. I blew through $300 in very short order with no quads and only 1 full house. There were of course no dealt winners. I moved over to a regular machine and did a bit better hitting a dealt quad followed by a good number of other quads and dealt winners. I was up and down after this and at one point was only down $150 for the session before the machine sucked it all back in and I cashed out with a $100 ticket for a $300 loss for the session. Dee had a great session popping a set of aces and other quads. We played for about 2 hours before cashing out and going to get something to eat.

We went to the Cal coffee shop again and got immediate seating skipping the line again because there were only 2 of us. It seems there have been a lot of large parties coming here this past week and the tables for 2 have been readily available. I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. This is one of my favorite meals here and I hadn’t had it yet this trip because of only having the food coupon book. Tonight I decided to screw the book and I’d use points to pay for the difference. Dee had the soup, salad and sandwich deal she had the other night. We topped off dinner with Black Forest Cake and ice cream! Dee wanted Carrot Cake but there were out again.

When we were done eating we went out to the car to clean out the rest of our things. In the past my rental car was usually chock full of crap by the end of 2 weeks but with Dee here things were pretty well organized and this only took a few minutes.

Once the chores were done it was back to the casino. I played some more triple play with very few hits. I managed a few quads but nothing else. Dee got hammered in near record time and went to play some penny slots. I cashed out with a $50 loss and joined her. I played a variety of games holding pretty steady. After an hour I was still even. Dee wanted to take a shot at $5 Wheel of Fortune so we pooled some money together. We had 7 spins and didn’t hit a damn thing. We had a few dollars left and played a reel nickel progressive but didn’t hit much of anything other than a few mixed bar combos.

It as getting a little late and we still needed to clean up our crap in the room and finish packing so we head upstairs to take care of that and then called it a night for the last time this trip. I am sad!

Total win/loss for the day -$400
Total comps for the day $168
