Day 24
Monday July 16, 2007

Well this is it, the end of the trip. I’m bummed it’s over but it’s been a hell of a time being out here for over 3 weeks. I do have to say though that 3 weeks is a VERY long time especially when you’re not winning. I hate to go home but I guess it’s about time. My flight isn’t until late tonight so I still have plenty of time today to do something.

My first order of business was to cash out my points at the Hilton. I had $53 and even though it’s not much, I’ll take it after the ass kicking I took the last week. Next up was to the sports book to make some football futures bets for a friend back home.

I finally left the Hilton and went over to the Silverton to meet up with Anne for lunch. We went to the Sundance Grill. I had a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese. The food was good and the service was ok. The waitress seemed a little lost but the service wasn’t bad.

I left the Silverton and went over to South Point. I wanted to redeem my points for gas cards. I was just short of getting another card so I played a little to get my points up to the next card. In the process I went through a pretty big swing but a dealt quad got me back to where I needed to be. I actually got the points I needed and won a dollar. I was able to get $100 in gas cards and over 3 visits here won over a grand too. That is how promotions are supposed to work.

From South Point I went over to the Hard Rock so I could use up my comps in the gift shop. I really hate doing this but it was the only way to use up $230 without losing them. This is one thing I really hate about the Hard Rock and that is the comps expire after 90 days. I grabbed some sweatshirts and some t shirts and the $230 was quickly burned. It doesn’t take long when they charge $20-30 for a t shirt. Honestly they should be ashamed of themselves charging prices like that but as long as people are willing to pay those prices I guess they’ll continue to do it.

I still had a few hours before I had to go to the airport so I took one more trip to the Pinball Hall of Fame to play games. I was having a good time here like always when a look at the clock showed it was time to leave.

Well after the final day of running around it was time to head to the rental car facility to return the rental car. This was my first experience with the new rental car facility. Things went well here with the return. The wait for the shuttle was one minute and the ride wasn’t bad at all. I’m sure during busy times this place is a zoo but tonight it wasn’t bad at all.

Check in at the airport went very quickly. Going through security was the same as it always is with the same ass clowns that feel they don’t have to comply with the rules. I still don’t understand the people that try to take a bottle of water through with them. You’d think the overflowing trash can of ½ full water bottles would be a hint to these folks. One ass clown tried to go through the metal detector with his shoed on. The lady told him to remove them so he takes them off and then carries them through the metal detector. Are people really THAT effing dumb. Another jack off tried to go through 3 different times without emptying his pockets. People, what part of remove everything from your pockets don’t you understand?

I’m on Continental Flight 369 with a departure time of 9:45pm. We’re scheduled to arrive in Newark at 5:30am tomorrow morning. I’m in seat 25A and the flight is pretty full. I had an empty eat between me and a guy in the aisle seat so that was nice for a little extra room on the ay home. Since this is a red eye flight they didn’t serve a meal. They did show a movie about a dog but I passed. I don’t even recall the name of the movie. I wanted to sleep and try as I might I wasn’t very successful but, there was a reason. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to deal with this but there was a silent farter somewhere near by and it was really bad. Every time I’d just about fall asleep another one would creep out. This happened the entire flight. Now look folks, I have no problem with someone cracking a rat, even a real stinker or two but this was ridiculous. I mean how can someone fart and stink that bad for 5 straight hours without having to get up and take a crap to empty out? This was the worst flight I’ve ever experienced with a silent farter in my life.

The flight itself was uneventful other than the silent farter. We landed in Newark 20 minutes early. I headed to baggage claim and got my things in a reasonable amount of time.

Next I was off to the monorail and the Avis lot. My name was up on the scoreboard and I was off to spot 117 to pick up my car. I got a price of $56 for a full sized car using a discount code through my employer. They had me set up in a Buick LaCrosse with over 25,000 miles on it. I’m not sure if this was an upgrade or not since I wasn’t familiar with this car at all. One thing I can say is it was one of the most uncomfortable cars I’ve ever driven.

The ride home wasn’t too bad even though it was rush hour. Luckily I was going in the opposite direction of all commuters! After making a few stops on the way home I pulled into my driveway at about 9am as my longest trip ever came to an end.
