Day 3 Tuesday July 27, 2004

Dining:
For the most part I snacked all day long on junk food. Not the healthiest thing to do but I needed a break from good food and didn’t feel like going to a restaurant.

Dinner was actually late night at Mr. Lucky’s 24/7 coffee shop at the Hard Rock after my mega craps session. I had the watermelon BBQ baby back ribs with mashed potatoes. This also came with a small salad. The food was very good and was enough for 2 people to eat. The service did kind of suck but it seemed that it was because there was only one waitress in the whole place tonight.

Gaming:
After going to the pool this morning I made a few stops and then headed up to the Cannery to get in on 5X points and the gift card promotions. I played some 5-play 8/5 bonus hoping for a hot streak. Too bad the hot streak never happened. I lost my ass on this machine and in nearly 4000 hands I only hit 4 quads and the dealt winners were far and few between. I managed to get enough points to redeem for 2 rolls of quarters and 3 $10 Home Depot gift cards. This isn’t how this promotion is supposed to work! I’m supposed to win or break even and then get those gifts on top of it!

After getting killed on VP I tried a little craps where I again lost my ass. This was terrible because the Cannery had been my personal ATM for the last few visits. I guess you just can’t win every time. The Cannery reminds me of what Binion’s used to be to me when I used to win there constantly with a loss here and there.

After leaving the Cannery I went to the Hard Rock. I haven’t played here since last December’s blood bath. I try to stay away from here these days because of the tendency I have to bet like a maniac while I’m in this place. This table was choppy but I was pretty much even for about the whole session. Then the worst was happening. Each shooter was establishing a point, rolling 2 numbers, and then going out. For a come player this is a nightmare. The table came back life with a hot shooter that made 6 points and a bunch of numbers. I was actually back up after this. I had a few good rolls myself, one that lasted almost 20 minutes on a dead table with just me and another player.

On another one of my rolls some guy decides he’s going to jump into the game and start betting the dark side. Ah, now this is my favorite situation. I proceeded to roll 4 straight points and repeated on the numbers he had don’t come bets on. I was proud of myself! Another guy during my roll decided to after I made 4 points to bet $100 on the line. I established an 8 and he backed it with $500 in odds. It made my $15 line bet with $75 in odds look like chicken shit. I actually felt bad for this guy when I went out 2 rolls later. He wasn’t mad and just shrugged it off. I finally quit after about 6 hours and a win of just a few hundred dollars.

Total win/loss for the day -$725
Total comps for the day $270
