Day 8 Sunday August 1, 2004

Dining:
After a late night the day actually started with lunch. Me, Rich, Dawn, and Mike went over to Barleys for some free pizza. This is one of the best coupons out there and the pizza is pretty good too.

For dinner me and Yahtzee Mike met up with friends Gary and CC at Silverton for dinner at the Sundance Grill. Both of us had coupons good for $25 in food so combined we had $50 between the 4 of us. I had the large prime rib. It was good but I’ve had better. I’ve also had worse. I’m not complaining about this cut though. It was pretty good for a coffee shop prime rib though. The meal and came with soup or salad, potato and vegetable. I went with the salad tonight. When the bill came it was just under $50 so combined our coupons covered the price.

Gaming:
Being that today is August 1st I did a quick check on the net this morning to see who was offering the best promos this month. I discovered the Cannery was offering 5X points on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday this month. That works out well for us and after lunch at Barleys we headed up to the Cannery.

I started off playing 8/5 bonus on the triple play machines. I was holding my own and hit a few quads right off the bat. Then the machine got tight and my $100 was gone. I bought in again and it was more of the same. I eventually hit 4 aces and got ahead by about $60. I was going to cash out even but I was bullshitting and didn’t realize I was down to just $100 on the meter again. Next thing I knew I was down to just $50. Then I hit a few more quads and aces again. I cashed out this session down only $30 but I have already racked up enough points to get a few gift cards at the slot club. I was just short in points for one more $10 card so I played some single line to get to that level. I know it’s not good to play for comps but the little bit of play I needed I though tit was worth it to play the little bit more, especially when you figure I’d play somewhere else anyway.

After getting the points I needed I walked past the craps table and put a $5 match play on the field. The shooter promptly 7’d out and I lost.

I finished my VP session down $50 in cash plus the $5 match play for a $55 loss today at the Cannery but I did walk out with $60 in gift cards so in reality it’s still like winning.

From the Cannery we headed way back up to Henderson to Casino Monte Lago. Both me and Mike had mailers good for $20 in free slot play. You had to run all of this through a machine before cashing it out. I took a shot at hitting a quad on DDB. I didn’t hit a quad but did hit a few full houses. I cashed out with a total of $27.50.

Next move was to use a $20 match play with the winnings I had on the free slot play. No matter what happened on the match play I would walk out with a $7.50 win. I decided to make a quick $20 bet on the field. The shooter rolled a 9 and I collected my $40 payoff. This was definitely a worthwhile trip to Monte Lago as I walked out with a win of $67.50. Not bad for a coupon hit and run.

While we waited for Gary and CC to arrive for dinner me and Mike played some penny slots. To get the $25 cash our coupon offered you need a slot attendant to actually insert the money for you. To avoid the risk I played a few spins on the machine at 9 cents per spin. When I spotted Gary I cashed out with a whopping win of 1 penny!

After dinner we headed back up to the Fiesta. I played some triple play and got killed in a hurry. I dropped $100 in no time at all. After that I went over to the crack cocaine machines, I mean multi strike machines and played with Rich. I was up and down and making it to the top level quite a bit but just couldn’t get a decent hand up there. Eventually I hit a full house and a few straights up there and cashed out the session with a $100 win to balance out the $100 I lost on the triple play machine.

Next up was one final session of craps for the trip. I dropped a little at the craps table but it wasn’t painful. This was a decent week gambling for the most part with exception of crapsfest.

After this craps session I sat at the bar for a while with Rich and Dawn before calling it a night and a trip. I didn’t play at the bar though. We just hung out for a while.

Total win/loss for the day -$49.99 (That 1-cent win at Silverton really made a difference today!)
Total comps for the day $182
